DP pants intervention - recommendations please

I've had enough of DP's raggedy-arse pants collection Angry (I am pregnant and short on patience and I have to see them when I do the laundry.) Apparently, M&S had no acceptable replacements Hmm

So, I need a source of basic but decent quality, black trunks-style men's undies that don't go all dishcloth after a couple of washes.

Can anybody help save my relationship ? Smile

dh wears asda/tesco black boxer shorts so i am sure they will do trunk style ones too

SomethingOnce · 21/02/2014 16:24

I didn't think of the supermarket - good idea.

Do they wash ok?

Tesco. And dh is usually a clothes snob!

Hopefully · 21/02/2014 16:27

I know you said no M&S, but my DH was the same until I got him some of the modal/microskin hipsters from there, he says they're really comfy and don't look too awful apart from the bright purple ones he found in a multipack. Several styles here.

ShatnersBassoon · 21/02/2014 16:29

DH's best pants are Boden. Thick cotton, hold their shape well, no shrinking in the tumble and they haven't faded in god knows how many washes. M&S pants always go a bit saggy.

ShatnersBassoon · 21/02/2014 16:29

He says they're supportive too Grin

RonaldMcDonald · 21/02/2014 16:31

tell him to have a look

that should help

SomethingOnce · 21/02/2014 16:32

No, no, DP claimed M&S "didn't really have anything" in the vague sort of way he does when he's fibbing. I don't believe he actually bothered going at all!

DS is a small in men's pants (trunks really) and wears Tesco or Sainsburys. Quality is fine.

SomethingOnce · 21/02/2014 16:33

You'd think so, Ronald, really you would...

OP posts:
Hopefully · 21/02/2014 16:33

Oh, that kind of 'didn't have anything' Grin

SomethingOnce · 21/02/2014 16:38

This is all very helpful, thanks so much everyone Smile

I think I'll bulk buy some more basic ones, as per recommendations, and some Boden ones for best. You can say what you like about Boden, but their stuff is usually pretty decent and lasts.

I'm not sure even the textile rag bank will want the old ones but they must be disappeared!

I buy the asda black trunks for hubby wash well, as lasted well thinking about it.

Mintyy · 21/02/2014 16:59

M&S men's pants are rubbish. Infact, so are their women's ones nowadays.

I find Next usually v good for pants, and excellent for socks.

Amethyst24 · 21/02/2014 19:03

Uniqlo seamless. DP has a few pairs, one in a rather racy magenta* and a few in black/grey/navy.

*does that make him a Winter? Anyway it means I get to call him the Pink Pantser, which will never not be funny.

ToffeeOwnsTheSausage · 21/02/2014 19:14

I buy DH the 3 pack from M&S for about £18 and they are comfy, nice to look at and wash and dry really well. Been buying them for years as I used to pay a few pounds less than I do now for them.

SomethingOnce · 21/02/2014 19:31

Pink Pantser

Grin

DP could totally rock pink pants!

Amnesty do great men's chuddies. DP tells me they are very comfortable and they seem to be good quality and survive lots of washes. And it's a really good charity to support.

SomethingOnce · 21/02/2014 19:43

Hmm, I was hoping to see the back of Political Pants with the imminent disposal of the Pants to Poverty ones...

But thanks!
