What facial sunscreen do you use?

I'm not loving la Roche Posay Anthelios as it leaves a white cast which makes me look like a ghost. What are people having success with?

Bonus points if it's broad spectrum and doesn't have antioxidants in it, because apparently they may cause cancer when used in sunscreen Confused

Ultra sun (once a day application) all the way - they do a specific facial one

ProjectGainsborough · 19/02/2014 14:17

Thanks - I like the idea of once a day (because who actually has time to reapply??) Can I ask, does it leave a white tint?

No it sinks in really well and a little goes a long was which is good as it's quite expensive. I am very sun sensitive (think F30 minimum in Uk) and find this works perfectly. I get it from John Lewis or look for special offers on QVC. I have been using it for over 4 years now

Great, thanks for recommendation Smile

Bioderma Ultra fluide in factor 50 - no white cast and doesn't sting my eyes.

You can get a tinted version of LRP Anthelios which may deal with the white cast issue?

TheJumped · 19/02/2014 19:39

I use Anthelios tinted and it is very orange! Plus it clogs me up. It is very effective though. I recommend trying Clinique City Block, the SPF40 one. It does have a slight white cast but it seems to fade after sinking in to your skin. Much nicer consistent than most, really light and matte. Going to try Ultrasun next though as it's always being recommended on here.

no evidence about sunscreen causing skin cancer. Plenty that excessive UV does.

most facial sunscreens have such tiny amounts of sunscreen in them as to be a total con. (Read small print on pack, it's true!) Buy the real stuff - I pick up Ambre Solaire non-greasy ones when they are on special offer at about £6 a big bottle.

costs a lot less.

if you are in the UK and work indoors, you don't need it on work days October to March.

I don't.
Except what's in the tinted moisturiser I use.

lunar1 · 19/02/2014 21:49

I use Creme de la mer, it's the only one I can use on my face that doesn't sting and make my skin flakey. It doesn't leave any white tinge on the skin.

Clarins UV Plus HP factor 40. Really pleased with it.

evertonmint · 19/02/2014 22:04

Should have said that I use the Clarins for every day usage in the summer. Just use factor 15 in my moisturiser in winter. And if properly sunbathing or out in the sun in summer I'll put proper SPF50 suncream on my face rather than the clarins.
