anyone want to join me in trying the curly girl method?

After yet another disastrous haircut where I ended up with the shortest hair ever despite asking for a chin length bob (how difficult is it as a hairdresser to realise that curls BOUNCE!) I ordered the curly girl handbook last week.

I bought the body shop sulphate free shampoo (I'm a farmer and get pretty dirty so wasn't totally convinced by co - washing) and conditioner. Day 1 on Friday I was soooo impressed with my curls! They'll look even better when they've grown again.

I've read that the hair improves over time so I'm quite excited by this.

Got a bit carried away on amazon and ordered a fair amount of devacurl products too.

Anyone want to join me?

We have tried all sorts - but this is our best find

It's really great & quite cheap

I plop for 20 mins in the morning, I've tried sleeping like it but it made me too cold. I don't want to have to get up any earlier than I already do, so 20 mins is all I can manage, it definitely helps though.

Weirdly, my hair looks at its best when I have been swimming, used non curly girl swim shampoo and no conditioner, no combing, scraped it all into a ponytail bun for a couple of hours and then let it down, I get the best defined, best shaped curls that way. Can't help thinking it wouldn't be good to do it all the time, but it is easy.

Hello all, can I join this thread? Experimenting with curly stuff - current routine tresemme naturals conditioner most days, boots curl creme after washing, plopping with microfiber turban. Seems to be working quite well so far. Shampoo every week or so with whatever low sulphate shampoo I have around ( currently some timotei stuff). Oh and gone back to using henna/indigo for colouring. Hennaed 2 nights ago and hair still stinks of the stuff.

My hair was brill at first, now feeling a bit itchy on my scalp and not quite as shiny (although the henna has helped that). Any other natural curly dyers?

How is everyone getting on?

I've been using the body shop stuff for a couple of weeks now and I've received compliments about my curls! So I guess something must be working.

Tried some clarifying shampoo which made my hair feel so clean to begin with.

I've also been using the curl range from naked, which smells a bit funny but seems to work better than frizz ease.

I've also been using some silicone free leave in conditioner. It's a cream and it feels a bit heavy. I'm tempted to try a hair oil but don't know where to start. Any tips?

I've been using body shop for a few weeks, turns out my hair is curlier than I realised.

Finally plucked up courage to do the whole CG method this morning after years of straightening. Had tried it out on DD over the weekend and it looked fab. Took ages to dry but am v pleased with results so far today! Loving the curls! No idea what I'm going to do tomorrow morning with Day 2 hair though....
