How much (if any) makeup do you wear to work?

I wear a fair bit of makeup to work, a little bit of everything - foundation, mascara, eyeshadow, eyeliner, blusher and lipstick.

Most of my colleagues wear little or no makeup.
I'd like to do this but would feel self conscious, shiny and worried I look ill (am pale with dark under eye circles).

Was wondering what/how much makeup you wear and if anyone has any tips for a less made-up, but polished, look?

Concealer
Blusher
Powder

Eye shadow
Macara
Lip liner
Lip colour and gloss
Sometimes wear foundation but not often.

BikeRunSki · 16/02/2014 11:40

None
Actually, no, I needed some lipsalve andi splashed out on the red tinted Vaseline one. Does that count ?

I am a civil engineer, I spend a lot of time on building sites.

I wear the works everyday (natural though) unless it's a full day at home. I too am pale with not the best complexion and have naturally dark circles under my eyes. I had my eyelashes tinted the other day so didn't wear mascara to work and the first person who saw me said I looked tired! I don't wear make up for other people's benefit, I wear it because it makes me feel better and more confident. I understand and admire people who don't feel the need, but it's just not for me. Everyone looks better with make up in my opinion! Xx

lurkingaround · 16/02/2014 12:01

I wear makeup every day. But a subtle touch (or that's what I hope):

SPF 50 moisturiser
Chanel Vitalumiére aqua
Collection 2000 concealer for under eye rings
Tiny bit of powder on t-zone - Soap and Glory or Laura Mercier
Blusher - Bobbi Brown soft pink or Revlon berry something
Mascara - YSL Babydoll in Navy
Lipstick - currently either Rimmel Vintage rose or Mac Plumful. Depending on the mood.

Seriously, takes 5 mins. 7 mins tops.

I look the the (now proverbial) potato without.

Ememem84 · 16/02/2014 12:02

Light foundation. Neutral but shimmery eyeshadow. Eyeliner. Mascara.

Maybe some lip gloss.

I'm not client facing all the time so rarely more than that.

HalfSpamHalfBrisket · 16/02/2014 12:07

Under eye concealer. The couple of times I have forgotten, I've had "Spam, you look terrible, are you OK?" comments from the head. (She's not known for tact.)

YeahThatsWhatISaid · 16/02/2014 12:09

None most of the time but very, very occasionally a little eyeliner. I also occasionally dye my eyelashes.

WeGotAnnie · 16/02/2014 12:10

The younger women where I work tend to wear the most make-up. Seems to be a trend for painting in your eyebrows, which was considered passe and weird when I was young.

Most of the older wmen wear a bit of bousher and lippy and mascara as far as I can see, but no trowelling it on.

I'm 36. I wear concealer and foundation and a bit of bronzer, mascara and eyeliner, coloured lip balm.

VeryStressedMum · 16/02/2014 12:13

I would wear no make up if I could but unfortunately I look like I haven't slept for 3 weeks without make up so I wear everything but natural look..hopefully others think it's natural too...

Pickles79 · 16/02/2014 12:15

I wear the works everyday
The few times I've gone without I've been asked if I'm unwell :(

Lj8893 · 16/02/2014 12:15

Daily make up is:

Concealer, powder, bronzer, blush ( rosy colour), highlighter, eyebrow pencil and mascara.

Going out make up as above, but with eyeliner and shadow, and lipstick. If Im feeling fancy I might wear false lashes.

homeanddry · 16/02/2014 12:15

I work with quite a lot of twentysomethings who wear no make up at all.

I am fortysomething and don't like being all done up in daytime, but achieve the no make-up look these days look takes... quite a bit of make up

So I wear tinted moisturiser, concealer, eyeshadow primer and light-coloured eyeshadow, mascara, a bit of cream blusher.

Lj8893 · 16/02/2014 12:16

But I will quite happily go out in the daytime with no make up providing I have no spots!

GhettoFabulous · 16/02/2014 15:46

None. There's at least 25 women where I work and no more than one or two wear makeup, and then it's just a bit of mascara. I come across plenty of women at multi-disciplinary meetings, and makeup is definitely the exception rather than the rule.

enormouse · 16/02/2014 16:23

If I'm just going to stay at home, nothing

But if I'm going to uni or just out and about during the day - primer, tinted moisturiser, cream blusher and mascara. Depending on how much I've been awake during the night, concealer as well.

Occasionally, I'll wear a light foundation instead of the tinted moisturiser

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/02/2014 16:27

Always at least eyeshadow used as liner and a bit of foundation and blusher. Sometimes more. Always get comments if I wear lipstick, as I look much more 'done' then, I think.

WhoNickedMyName · 16/02/2014 16:28

I always wear the full works. It only takes me 10 minutes, or probably less, of a morning to put it on.

I didn't wear make up to work one day. My boss called me into his office and asked if I was unwell and needed to go home.

dirtychicken · 16/02/2014 16:35

I wear make up most days. Takes me 5 mins to do - tinted moisturiser, concealer, powder, blusher, eyebrows, lipstain. That's a fairly minimal look for me. Most women I work with wear some make up, but not heavy. Occasionally I'll be in a real rush and not have time to do it and I'm not embarrassed to go out with no make up. I don't bother putting any on when I'm at home.

Corygal · 16/02/2014 16:35

Eyebrows and lashes dyed, scent applied before I leave the house. Then a spot of L'Oreal's master smoky purple eyeliner, mascara, primer and a slick of Clinique lipstick aimed at my head on the very wobbly local bus.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 16/02/2014 16:36

If someone told me I looked ill/tired/hungover/whatever without make-up I would probably stop wearing it entirely. I would rather people got used to me the way I am than feel obliged to wear it every day. I do often go weeks on end with nothing except my eyebrow pencil, but am having a spell of wearing more at the moment.

NearTheWindmill · 16/02/2014 16:37

Mineral/powder foundation
under eye concealer
mascara
blusher
lipstick

Takes about 2/3 minutes tops every single day - I don't go out without it. If I'm going out to somewhere special I add pencil liner and a bit of eyeshadow.

Everything No7 except the mascara which is lancome.

FuckingWankwings · 16/02/2014 16:43

Primer
Foundation
Eyeshadow
'Eyeliner' –actually a line of eyeshadow, on the rim of my top eyelids
Mascara
Concealer under eyes
Blusher
Powder
Eyeshadow on eyebrows

Looks like a lot written down but he finished 'look' is pretty low-key and seems to be the minimum I need (or feel comfortable with anyway) to look presentable and healthy.
I only use neutral eyeshadow – it just helps make my eye area look less tired and dark. I hope my foundation isn't too trowelled-on looking and just evens out my skin tone.

I think I wear more than most if not all of my colleagues; it's not a very high-powered or corporate area.

It takes me AGES to do. I'm constantly trying to trim my time/improve my technique, but no dice as yet Grin

leolantern · 16/02/2014 16:47

I wear eyeliner, blush, lipstick and conceler everyday (teacher) but mascara is only for evenings not sure why Confused

RockMummy · 16/02/2014 17:02

I wear foundation, blusher, lipstick, eyeshadow and mascara every day.
I enjoy applying it and the ritual of it, having done so since I was a teenager. I'm support staff in a school where some people wear make up and others don't. It's what people feel like I guess.

BonaDea · 16/02/2014 17:11

I wear foundation, blusher, eye liner and mascara. Lip gloss if handy but often bear lips.
