Mountaineering. Gardening. Muddy country walks with dogs and/or small children. Working at home. Feeling sick. Er - that's about all fleece eventualities covered I think. None of them.involves a frilly fleece 'for best'....

EduCated · 12/02/2014 19:20

Au contraire, when I'm stood in the middle of a field at midnight, in the cold wind and rain, clearing up the vomit of a Guide now crying because she's homesick, I've often wished my fleece was that little bit jazzier Grin

Prettyfilou · 12/02/2014 21:03

That fleece has got an identity crisis. Confused

lovingmatleave · 12/02/2014 21:17

omg,saw the thread title and was all ready to jump in and say what's wrong with fleece jackets (well you know its cold out there), but this really is the pits. I actually laughed out loud when I saw it!

NoArmaniNoPunani · 12/02/2014 21:28

That looks like the kind of shite they sell on QVC

WeGotAnnie · 12/02/2014 21:39

It really needs an embroidered cloth flower in lime green like all Per Una clothes to set it off.

EduCated · 12/02/2014 22:11

And some mismatched faux buttons.

Imwoodword · 12/02/2014 22:11

There are so many things I want to say about that coat but WHAT is going on with the fastening, near the top. It looks like the security lock on my patio doors. Maybe it's a chastity wadded-puffy-bow coat? So alluring that you have to lock yourself into it to fend off over-heated admirers?

EduCated · 12/02/2014 22:30

Anyone fancy a game of Tetris?

NoArmaniNoPunani · 12/02/2014 22:52

That coat is like a giant inflatable poo

nikkihollis · 13/02/2014 08:19

These are why its impossible to feel bad for M&S when you read their profits are down yet again.

I was on a consumer panel for M&S about 15 years ago for a few months. The things everyone was despairing about then, they're STILL doing now - mad embellishments, potty embroidery, weird colours no other shop would touch, silly details and frills.

It's like they've got a death wish.

HarrietVaneAgain · 13/02/2014 08:40

'PMSL at inflatable poo coat. I own one fleece jacket brought in desperation on a cold Easter half term break. Whenever I wear it I am uncomfortably reminded that I look exactly my mum. I choose to wear padded gillets instead therefore choosing to look a bit like my gran instead but rocking what I fondly imagine is a retro yet funky town and country vibe.

I'm deluded.

That is hilarious! Grin I'm trying to imagine the product development meeting where that one got approved...

CalamitouslyWrong · 13/02/2014 10:24

I could imagine that stripey jumper wandering around a university campus on some hipster type. Or, at least, I could if it wasn't sold in M&S where no hipster would see it.

CalamitouslyWrong · 13/02/2014 10:25

Not the fleece though. That's nursing home chic if such a thing is possible.

murphys · 13/02/2014 10:33

I would ask for my face to be chopped outta that pic too if i were modelling it Grin

PoshPaula · 13/02/2014 10:44

I won't be wearing that kind of thing if/when I'm in a nursing home.

CalamitouslyWrong · 13/02/2014 10:51

No, but by then all the stuff you currently think of as stylish will be nursing home chic.

piklepants · 13/02/2014 11:32

Oh my god thank you for this thread that is hilarious!! But really is per una that bad?? I thought it was pretty cool p shows what I know! That giant inflatable poo jacket is also great more links please;-)

PoshPaula · 13/02/2014 13:13

No way calamitously! Nursing homes would be full of old ladies in skinny jeans and fake fur, (if they're anything like me)...

Sonotkylie · 13/02/2014 16:39

That is fantastic. Are M and S now self parodying to increase footfall so while we are scoffing furiously, we might remember we need some new knickers and DS needs more grey socks?

Fleece is glorious in its awfulness. Coat ... Speechless!

CalamitouslyWrong · 13/02/2014 19:39

Yes, push Paula. Give it 40 years and nursing homes will be full of women in skinny jeans. Skinny jeans will be the crimp online skirt of our generation.
