Frugal or Lazy?

It's been 13months since my last (very good) cut. It is too long now so I've booked in for Thursday next week. I have naturally frizzy/curly hair so I get away with most split ends etc but by god it's desperate. I don't have it coloured - no greys yet.
I just find the whole experience so difficult.

Am I the only one who has an annual cut?

Me too! Maybe more..I last had a cut and blow dry December 2012! I haven't had the time as husband works all the time and no one to watch the kids and I find hair cuts such a rip off

why is it so hard to find time for a bloody hair cut? some women have them regularly...I envy them.....

and I don't have a car so I have to get buses and walk up hills to get to the only hairdresser in the county (seemingly) that understands curly hair!

I completely disagree.
There is always time. If you make time. Most places do a late late till 9pm/10pm and Saturdays.

Many people gave a haircut very 6 weeks. 8 times a year.
You owe it to yourself, you deserve , atleast twice.

Oblomov, did you miss the bit about curly hair? It's a nightmare trying to find someone.

When you do, they are probably not in the same town (as luck would have it).

It's on my list for things to change. I'm even thinking of getting my lashes tinted!

thanks Harbinger, tis truly awful! AND even with a good cut I am yet to find one that puts enough product on afterwards to prevent the inevitable afro! Even though I always moan about this very point beforehand (no biggie, I just allow time to go home and do it myself and hope not to run into anyone on the way!)

I got the bit about curly hair. But thats not unheard if. There are MANY hairdressers who can deal with it.
Your not a martyr. Put yourself first for a change. Find a good hairdresser . And tell dh he has to look after the kids, because you are going there in 3 Saturdays time.
How hard is it?

I only have my hair cut once a year, it's long, I just don't think it needs doing more than that and I hate going.

I get my hair cut about every 9 months or so

Also curly and I find haircuts traumatic -every time I find someone who gets my hair they change salon or go on maternity leave or something

I cut my own hair, I love going to the hairdressers but it costs about 40 quid around here and I haven't found a hairdresser I really like. (don't think I will though if I don't go doh!)

I get my hair cut every 6 weeks. And coloured. It is my treat to myself. I even book an afternoon off work if necessary.
I have a short asymmetric bob so I need regular cuts to keep it in shape. I also have lots of greys I need to hide. Sob.

supa I'm the opposite to you about the products because the first thing I do, after dashing home, is to wash my hair. I always hope that I never see anyone after a cut.
It's soooo hard finding a hairdresser that really 'gets' curls.

I get mine cut every one to two years, I hate it, a stranger asking me all sorts of questions I really don't want to answer because I've only just met them.

I used to go for a cut a couple of times a year. Now go every 6 weeks and the difference is amazing! My hair looks so much better in a proper style, especially as it's fine. Haircuts aren't cheap but IMO still worth it for a nice polished look.

Agree the curly hair thing makes it much much harder. I cannot find a decent curly-hair specialist (don't laugh, they are trained and wonderful) anywhere within miles and miles and miles of me, so whenever I go to a big city I look one up and get a haircut. The one time I had it cut locally it was terrifyingly bad.

17leftfeet Story of my life right there! Mine went in maternity leave and never came back. Then I found the best hair stylist I've ever had and they emigrated to Australia. Next decent person cut it once and them I found out it was her last day working there.

As a result I haven't had my hair cut or coloured since last August. This is really unusual for me as I was a once every 8 weeks woman. I have my fringe regularly trimmed which gives the illusion that I've had a proper cut.

And yes to the curly hair thing. Mine is very wavy and I struggle to find someone who doesn't want to feather the ends or put tons of layers in. So I'm guessing getting a good curly hair stylist is next to impossible.

I get mine cut every 18 months or so. Those of you who get a decent amount cut each time, please consider donating the cut hair to the Little Princess charity. As long as it's at least 9in long and clean, and secured at both ends in a band, they can use it to make wigs for cancer patients. That's what I did with mine last time.

I think it depend on where you live. If you have plenty of people around with afro/naturally curly hair, there will be stylists to service them. I live in lincolnshire and it's REALLY difficult.

Anyway, I'm getting excited, I'm booked in for thursday and I'm looking very much forward to that first shower where the brush runs straight through the ends!

My DD had her hair cut at a 'proper curly' place that she had researched.
They cut her hair dry, then washed, then re-cut. Sounds good to me as they can see the curl.
