I am going to a christening on sunday and also a wedding in a couple of weeks.

I can spend about 40/50 pounds on a new outfit.

Here's my general physique:

Size 12 on bottom, 14 on top. I had a baby 6mths ago and still have a jelly belly so covering is a must. My worst point is my arms (they are big) so I would prefer them covered. My best assetts are my boobs and my calves are pretty slim.

So, can anyone who has time on their hands help me find something flattering as since my figure has changed I have no idea what slims down the figure. It needs to be high street so I can get it today.

Thanks

I can't find any specific links, but your figure sounds like mine and I never go wrong in Monsoon. Their clothes seem cut to flatter pretty much everyone. ALso they still have a sale on, so you could pick up a bargain x

Sound like me - though I'm 16on top, 12 on bottom.
Got a wedding in 4 weeks.

I've just bought a red top (fom Monsoon little lamb!) which is kind of a mock wrap style but silky and all pleaty so mega flattering over lumpy bits. It is strappy so maybe not for you, but look at the shape and pleating.
(Its on their website, go into Women then picture is in "tops" box.)

Wearing it with a gold A-line/pleated skirt in a stiffish taffeta material (Next sale £11!)

I find dresses don't flatter me at all, separates much better.

Hi Chloe,
I'm exactly the same, but worse A 16 on top big boobs, broadback and shoulders, a bit of a tummy after dd but 10-12 bottom have no ass or hips to speak of. Hate buying dresses, always find skirt and top suits look better (then you can buy 2 sizes.) Top half for my shape always buy v necks, and scoopy low neckines (never up to the neck make me look even bigger up top), capped sleeves or longer - angel floaty sleeves are great to give illusion of long willowy arms. That floaty viscose fabric I like the best, whick sort of skims and doesn't cling.

I am bigger on top than bottom and think a fairly fitted top with an A line skirt looks nice. Also if your figure is less than perfect I think fab shoes and jewellery goes a long way, also interesting colours / prints / embroidery. You can still look stunning with a larger / less than perfect shape IMO. A nice v-neck to show off your top half sounds good, perhaps?

I've been shopping!!

I have tried to find a link to what I have bought but it was in the sale so can't find it.

I first looked in Monsoon which I have to say have gorgeous dresses in but they were a little out of my price range.

I found a dress in the Principle's sale reduced from £125 to £67 which is still way above my budget but it is lovely. It is knee length, green, a few sequins, thick straps but also comes with a very pretty shawl to hide the arms.

I've never heard of that shop you were referring to cod, I'm a northerner though, we are often behind times

Thanks for your input girls.
