Grrrr Why aren't there ever any family fitting rooms in shops?!?!!?

I have 2 young children and the thought of shopping & trying on clothes with them in tow terrifies me. The last thing I need is one of them yanking the curtain open whilst Im stood in my greying underwear. BUT this weekend I had to get a new outfit and with no time to order online, I had to take the children with me. What happened really wound me up. When I asked if there was a family changing room, the assitant gawped at me like I was an alien. I explained that I was on my own with my children and we wouldnt fit in the tiny fitting room - "you'll just have to go in there" she said and pointed to the disabled changing room. I was mortified but had no choice - the whole time I was changing I was panicking about the curtain, the kids were climbing the walls and the thought that someone with a disability that needed the changing room could be waiting outside sent me in to meltdown.

Has anyone had any similar experiences? Does anywhere actually have a family fitting room? Grrr just because I have children shouldn't mean I can't shop!!!

Tbh hardly anywhere has disabled changing rooms, I think that's more of a priority. I do think that family changing rooms are a good idea though.

I thought the disabled changing room normally doubles as the family one. I've never felt awkward using it at such - I don't think it's the same as occupying a disabled toilet when you aren't disabled.

I had wondered about this. last week I was in town with my son in his pram hes only a few weeks old. bored of maternity wear and with no hope of fitting in my old clothes for the foreseeable, I wanted to treat myself. I then realise I can't use the bloody fitting rooms while I have a pram. I don't want to be arsed going back and forth returning things after I've tried them at home. so am I just not supposed to shop with a young baby. as it is you can barely get round shops because they pack everything so close together.
oh and just a little side point, I think fitting rooms should always have proper lockable doors not curtains. the curtains never fit there's always a gap where everyone can see your bum.

This is why I have only bought clothes online or from supermarkets for the last 5 years.
