What fecking shoe size do I get?

Ever since the uk switched to continental sizing, I just can't find shoes that fit properly.

I'm on my feet all day, so how should they fit? One size will always slop off at the back when I walk, whilst the size below feels a bit small around toe. So I buy the big size, and put insoles in, but it never seems to make much difference, they still slop off.

I have a lot of trouble with aching feet and achilles problems, so they've got to be right. The ones that feel a bit small don't slop off, but I can feel my toe touching the top (not the end ) of the shoe.

So what size do I get ?

Oh I feel your pain orangeanddemons! I've been saying this for I don't know how long and I don't think anyone else knows what I'm talking about!

The irritating thing is that I've asked in Clarks to have my feet measured and they refuse! They said they'll only measure children's feet. Idiots.

I always end up in m&s for their half sizes

If you google shoe size measuring on the first page of websites there is a pdf download that you can print off and use

I have at last found my continental size, it's taken ages though (several years, eventually I discovered that all my comfortable shoes were in 1 particular size).

Sometimes its about the make of shoe, some brands just don't fit me, clarkes don't fit for instance. Gabour used to be good for work, they were a bit bigger on the toe area so in my size the fitted at the front but didn't slip off...some of their styles were a bit old lady like but occasionally I found a good pair and they were really comfortable.

Go to a good independent shoe shopand get properly fitted. Have you considered a different style of shoe?

what's annoying for me as a bigfoot is that a UK 7 was always a continental 41. In M&S an 8 is still a 42. Now brands like Kurt Geiger make 41 an 8, and a 42 a 9, so I never know whether an 8 online really is an 8.
