£4 for a nail brush (£1.50 next door in super drug)

£5 for a small pot of flavored lip balm circa 1998

The hemp hand cream has dealt with a nasty patch of dry skin on my hand.

Life saver.

Ah, I was an Oceanus, dewberry, white musk AND vanilla girl. Thankfully not all at the same time! I haven't been to the body shop in at least 15 years....

LittleBabyPigsus · 02/02/2014 04:15

Some things are a bit overpriced, but other things are well worth it. The hemp range is fantastic for dry skin for instance, I love the Vitamin E facial spray (super soothing), the comedone extractor is nice and sturdy and so much better than cheap flimsy ones. The pot lip balm is a little pricey but the lip butters on the other hand are worth the money. The skincare is generally excellent, I like the brightening Vitamin C range.

I would never get things like flannels or nail brushes there but flannels and nail brushes aren't The Body Shop's USP.

Yup, prices here in nz are unbelievable. You lucky bastards!

KosherBacon · 02/02/2014 07:22

Fuzzy peach bath pearls that left a slime at the bottom of the bath!

If you went in to town you HAD to go into the body shop.

Frozenatchristmas · 02/02/2014 08:27

I never bought cosmetics when I lived in Australia. It was cheaper to have stuff sent over from the UK.

LouiseAderyn · 03/02/2014 22:19

I still like white musk - it's lovely.

The shea body butter is gorgeous but everything else isnt special enough to justify the price imo.

weirdthing · 03/02/2014 22:25

How do you find out about the sales etc?

DrankSangriaInThePark · 04/02/2014 06:43

Weirdthing- if you sign up to their website you will get email notifications etc. Also, if you use Quidco or Topcashback, BS is one of the retailers which gives a mahoosive amount of cashback (IIRC about 16%)

There is regularly 40% off stuff. I never buy unless it's at least that! (Which is why at last count there were 11 full pots of body butter on my dressing table)

itsbetterthanabox · 04/02/2014 08:08

I only buy things in their outlet stores or when they do 50% vouchers. Then it's a good price for quite nice stuff. Otherwise it is so expensive! I'm stopping buying from them now though since I found out they are owned by loreal so all their no testing on animals ads are just bullshit Hmm

itsbetterthanabox · 04/02/2014 08:10

I don't get the hype about the body butters. They leave me feeling coated and oily and are so hard to apply because they are so thick they don't spread. Am I doing it wrong?!
