Petite ranges??

I've recently accepted that I will just have to buy from petite ranges in the future. Over the last few years I swear the regular clothes sizes have got bigger all round (as in made for taller people). It doesn't make sense to pay so much for alterations. I'm 5'2.

Is anyone else in the same predicament? Where are you shopping? It's so limiting!

I'm 5ft and a size 6-8. Increasingly a 6 due to vanity sizing.
There are some shops where sizing has got so ridiculous, everything is too big on me. Yes Monsoon, M&S regular ranges and supermarket ranges I'm talking about you.
I tend to prefer petite range clothes as the proportions work better on me. I like Next for jeans and coats and the odd cotton t-shirt top. Their dresses are not really me though. Boden petite 6 fits me well and they are good for chinos, trousers and tops. Topshop, Miss Selfridge and Dorothy Perkins all have the odd item too.
Banana Republic have a petite range in their Regent St store. Had to size down to a 4 in their trousers from there in the summer so still generously cut. Have just ordered a shirt from Gap petite to try.

bishboc but it's not just about trouser length is it? For me I usually find that the sleeves on blazers and shirts are too long and I get that big crease on the back.

I'm 5 ft 2 and a reasonably curvy 10/12.I fine tops and trousers from regular ranges can be fine (trousers with heels or hemmed), but dresses are impossible - the bust, waist and hips never fall in the right place. Ecstatic to see coast have started petite, will make weddings etc much easier.

^ exactly - dresses are such a problem. It's great that Coast have started petite :) awesome news.

To me some things seem to have got bigger eg Monsoon, M+S but other younger brands seem to have got smaller eg warehouse, oasis and French Connection well there doesn't seem to be any dress or skirt that is lower than mid thigh on me and I am 5ft2.

I have bought petite from Next, DP, Debenhams. Also have bought from girls gap xl, and johnnie b at boden (the older girls range). NW3 range at hobbs do a size 6. Once had a pair of work trousers from précis petite that lasted years but not gone back to the more expensive brands as I've no need for smart stuff anymore.

Lands end do petite stuff. Some stuff a bit middle aged but good for t shirts and they do free hemming on trousers. Think I have a 20% off code somewhere. Have a few things from there I use for work. I'm 5ft 2 and size 10.

Hello

I am new here. I know the thread has not been posted for a while but having read all the comments I thought it worth saying that Boden have petite fit exactly right. It is a pity they do not make a wider range - especially jackets and outerwear - and that their clothes the last couple of seasons have been less appealing.

Petite is a fit for ladies 5'3" or less in height. Body measurements should be smaller in the vertical aspect only, meaning - for example - the shoulder to wrist measurement is shorter, the back neck to waist measurement is shorter; it is all about the vertical. A size 10 should otherwise measure the same as any other size 10.

Personally, I don't care what bust, waist and hip measurement indicates a size 10/12, etc. What I would very much like is for the measurements to be universally standard so that I can pick up a size 10 anywhere knowing that is the size for my body measurements.
