I thought I would start a thread for those here who have a more artsy approach to S+B rather than those who want to emulate the French/Italian look.

Come hither all fellow quirksters and share your wares and hair/beauty finds.

Some of my favourite things are Conker shoes, Fairystep bags, Gringo shrugs and cropped jumpers legacy of 1990's alert I will venture out in Crocs and Birkenstocks with no shame Grin

I love Beauty without Cruelty lipsticks and massive rings. I love to see unusual stuff put together and layered up Lagenlook style. One day I will own some Trippen shoes.

So what's your best buy of late and what are you hankering after?

Not sure I belong here, but the black and green tartan blazer and the skirt from Primark sound fab! I love blazers and I love skirts :)

I must live in the only part of the UK that doesn't have a Primark :( my nearest one is about 2 hours drive away

BikeRunSki · 31/01/2014 22:30

Ooo oh, I have found my spiritual home Smile

I have had Conker boots in the past, but currently Iove my Duckfeet boots. I have the Roskilde ankle boots.

BumPop · 31/01/2014 22:31

Loving this thread, but enough of the links, I'm broke! Wink

I am especially interested in styles: tea dresses with biker boots, skinnies with dms, trainers with ball dresses. I really like quirky mixes of traditional stuff, so lots more welcome!

Currently liking big, bold jewellery. The stuff that looks more like weaponry. Grin

Any make up ideas for small lips? Although I like the dark lip idea, mine are far too thin.

Also looking for a tatt that I can have on wrist or similar without scaring my work colleagues - very corporate environment. Angry

WhereIsMyHat · 31/01/2014 22:40

I flit between alternative and mainstream but I'll always be a bit different. I'm stuck in a clarks originals shoe obsession at the moment. I'd quite like some duck feet shoes www.duckfeet.com/duckfeet-womens-collection

WhereIsMyHat · 31/01/2014 22:42

Re hairstyles, a victory roll is probably a good start point and a lovely headscarf tied on your head can look fab and is less effort.

LittleBabyPigsus · 01/02/2014 01:06

Vintage hairstyles - there are looooads of tutorials on pinterest. Like, seriously, a ton.

BumPop maybe an interrobang? You could get a smaller/less bold one.

carohartman · 27/07/2015 16:49

for those who love asian or korean cosmetics, i just came across a gorgeous website called "the silk rose" - they sell my favourite brand LJH! Really amazing products I used when I was pregnant as they were all not scented. i remember my lush products were just too heavily scented and i felt nausea everytime I used them.

JasperDamerel · 27/07/2015 17:10

I have nothing to add as I am currently in a style rut due to being broke and having put on loads of weight, so am currently rocking a ripped tights, DMs and tea dresses look out of having nothing else to wear.

When able to actually fit into my clothes, I would describe my look as Miss Marple meets Jane Austen in a futuristic dystopia. Either that or scruffy and can't be arsed Smile

Greengardenpixie · 27/07/2015 17:21

I do quirky :) Marking the thread!

Greengardenpixie · 27/07/2015 17:24

mmm...loving the duckfeet website!!! Its not a good idea for me to be on this thread....

OneLittleLady · 27/07/2015 17:32

ahhh i'd forgotten about this thread!

I've been buying a lot of 'audrey' lindy bop dresses and wearing with various coloured tights, dr marten boots, velvet flat t bar shoes and either little cardigans or blazers

i've been indulging my love of both flamingos and pineapples buying lots of bits and pieces with them on. I've got two bags by the brand BANNED with flamingos on them, a pineapple embroidered cardigan and one with sugar skulls and another with zombie swallows. lots of the BANNED bits and pieces are cheapish on the sports direct website

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/07/2015 17:51

Jasper Miss Marple meets Jane Austen in a futuristic dystopia sounds like a perfect novel, as well as perfect style! Grin

Am nowhere near as 'quirky' as I used to be, but I still have a bit of a thing for skirts with slightly off the wall patterns on, and my Westwood skirts have been known to raise a few eyebrows too.

And as an ex-goth, my wardrobe has rather a bias towards black.

Dowser · 27/07/2015 18:31

Love Lindy bop dresses. Wore one tomy 60 th birthday party.

ThatBloodyWoman · 27/07/2015 18:35

Good thread.
I don't 'do' high fashion.

I'm quite hippy in my tastes, and I'm more interested in piercings and tattoos than bun rings and hideously expensive handbags.

Crazycatlady27 · 27/07/2015 18:44

I've just purchased these boots from eBay....cannot wait for them to arrive!

Alternative style and beauty thread. For lovers of quirky stuff.
hollyisalovelyname · 27/07/2015 18:45

LittleBabyPigsus WetnWild make up is available in Dunnes Stores in Ireland - in the larger stores.
Apparently Dunnes are expanding into the UK.
Their range of clothes and homewares is brilliant.
Particularly Paul Costelloe, Savida and Carolyn Donnelly's The Edit.

stripytees · 27/07/2015 19:20

Place marking...

Have discovered Softinos shoes this week. Got some mustard yellow ones. Smile

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowIt · 27/07/2015 19:20

Today I bought a lemon leather coat from a charity shop. It's lovely.

GetTheFudgeOutOfRodge · 27/07/2015 20:00

Jasper, best fashion style ever Grin

I'm currently trying to lose 8 a few stone and cannot wait to rock some alternative style, if I figure out how to do that whilst running around after a toddler anyway.

KittyB52 · 27/07/2015 21:52

I LOVE this thread. I'm more hippy than anything (tie dye, patchouli oil and toe rings) or rather I would be if I hadn't 'lost my way'.

I am now wandering about on the Afflecks Palace website and casting admiring glances at kaftans. Grin

squizita · 27/07/2015 22:03

Vintage + rock/pastel goth + a bit of Mori/Dolly Kei here. Weird combo I know.

Want something brocade for Autumn at the moment...

stripytees · 27/07/2015 22:07

I'm not alternative as such but I do commit many of the MN crimes against fashion Grin White Stuff patterned skirts with a striped top, coloured tights (I even own some with one teal and one purple leg!), sensible shoes in bright colours, big necklaces, that sort of a thing...

KittyB52 · 27/07/2015 22:11

I love coloured tights. I reckon if I get some plain dresses for work, I could just about get away with coloured opaques in the winter, providing they aren't too bright. Dark teal, purple, navy, dark green - that kind of thing.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/07/2015 22:17

I have been kn own to wear hot pink tights to work! Grin

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/07/2015 22:17

I have also been known to spell, 'known' correctly occasionally too!
