Hats to christening?

Help me, Oh wise MNers.

I'm going to be godmother to my adorable nephew and have an outfit sorted - pink LK Bennett dress and nude shoes. Do I need a hat or fascinator? What's the done thing here?

It's been years since I've been to a christening and I've also lost my way with fashion!

None of the (countless) christenings I have been to have been hat/ facin actor affairs but that's our friendship group. At one there was another family also having their baby baptised at the same time and they were all very dressy. I guess only you know what your friends are like? Can you ask your family what they think.

Ok, thanks both. I think I'll leave the hat Smile

I'd say no hat and not uber dressy clothes. The outfits of the congregation at Christenings in our local church are schizophrenic...the regular churchgoers are in casual/smart casual clothes and the christening guests look as if they're at a wedding. They look as if they've been to two completely different events!

This is the dress. I don't think it's super-super dressy Smile

It's lovely!

No. Its not like a wedding. The dress is lovely. Keep it simple and understated.
