I'm a 5ft 2 fat apple but I have stout legs, can I wear a dress?

My short stumpy legs have no definition, they go up and down in one large mottled mass from knee to ankle. My knees are swollen from arthritis. I would love to wear a dress for a special occasion coming up but no matter what dress I try, I just have matronly legs. Has anyone experience of this or tips to help?

Opaque tights are your friend. With high heels. Treat yourself to a pair of Wolford tights. Or M&S Autograph silky opaque tights.

Some legs, like my own, are better covered up. There will be people on here who say wear what you love, it doesn't matter what you look like or what others may say. I think it depends on your level of confidence. If you only see your matronly legs when you look in the mirror, focus on finding a gorgeous pair of trousers. Every now and again I try on dresses/skirts, but I genuinely look better/slimmer/less matronly in trousers.

Yes, you can wear a dress if you want, of course you can!

Do you think you'd feel comfortable in one when it comes down to it? TBH if your knees give you trouble I'd be inclined to start with a style of shoe that causes the least possible trouble and work out the outfit from what'd work with that.

Mmm what about midi length dress and the dreaded stretchy material boot?
My mum does this as once she hit her sixties she developed cankles...actually it works surprisingly well.

Also draw the eye away from your legs by having your tits out or by a massive necklace summit like that

Ah thats my other issue, due to the okd rheumatics I can't wear high shoes, im doomed to wear pants forever!
