Boots are doing a try before you buy offering a skin consultation & free samples.
Just wondered what everyone's view was on clarins skincare. I have been recommended a bewildering array of products at some significant cost. No surprises there then!!!

I get on really well with Clarins skincare - it doesn't have very good 'natural' credentials and it's expensive, but it always seems to agree with my dry-ish, sensitive skin. Their Alpine Cleansing milk is gorgeous, and I love Multi-Active Day Cream - gives me very glowy, well-moisturised skin. And their facial oils are gorgeous. Worth getting some free samples I'd say!

I'm sure all of the larger stores that sell it will do a free consultation and give you some samples. Yes I have been using the product for years now. Although I have tried some other brands as cash was a bit tight, I have gone back to Clarins every time. It just works well on my skin, doesn't make it dry, cause eczema etc like other brands do. And my skin looks good. Even my dh commented the other day on how nice it is atm, and believe me, that he noticed and commented is the biggest compliment ever!

Yes I too get on really well with their stuff and always go back to them. At well the wrong side of 50 get lots of compliments on my skin - of course this isn't all down to Clarins . I take good care of skin generally, drink lots of water etc but I do think it helps.

Any clarins counter will do a consultation with samples.

I've just discovered the Aldi restorative cream which is very similar to clarins day cream without the over powering smell, it's even in a glad jar.

The only clarins cream my skin can tolerate it's the youth recovery night cream but I don't think I'll repurchase tbh now I've discovered the Aldi range.

Another 'yes' vote for Clarins. I love it.

facial oil

I use simple cleanser, sainsbos own face wash for a double clen, then clarins facial oil. I am 45, my skin looks the best it ever has, I've even stopped wearing foundation!!
it is £30 but you only need a teeny amount

Thanks guys have picked up a few samples so I will see how it goes. The assistant raved about 2 products - double serum & the exfoliating toner.

I really love Clarins skincare. Other brands come and go but I always go back to Clarins.

I especially love their multi-active range for dry skins.

squoosh · 30/01/2014 13:07

Oh yes, I love the exfoliating toner too!

escargot · 30/01/2014 13:08

I don't rate the Double Serum. It contains mineral oil - whilst not the worst thing you can use it is cheap and with a £55 price tag I wanted more for my money. It didn't feel that good on the skin so I used it up on my chest and throat.

The exfoliating toner is good. Use a couple of times a week instead of a scrub.

I've just noticed that the Multi-Active Day Cream is starting to get really bad reviews on the Clarins site here, from people who've been using it for ages. It sounds like they've changed the formula! Gah! I've been using Logona Wild Rose day cream recently, but was about to run out and go back to the Multi-Active....not now!
