What are you going to be wearing this Spring/Summer?

I'm trying to work out what on earth I need to add to my wardrobe to get through this year - last year I managed to be both unprepared when it was cooler and even more unprepared when it suddenly got hot. I would like to do slightly better this year.

I'll be post natal and feeling fairly unstylish anyway, but I'm thinking it might be quite nice to buy a few bits and bobs so I don't feel a complete wreck - I haven't put on much weight (I don't think) but I am feeling bored bored bored with my maternity wear and looking forward to feeling a little bit more together (because that's going to be so effortless with 3 DCs).

So what is your standard summer look? Are you going to be adding anything to it this year? Help me with ideas!

I'm kinda dreading it in a way as this will be my first summer as an autumn . I think it's gong to be hard. (sorry don't want to turn this into a seasons thread).

I guess you need to be practical! When are you due?
I've not been in the shops recently, trying not to spend Grin I've seen a few Pastel colours being promoted which are no good for us!

Due at the end of March, so will have a whole summer of probably BFing, lots of walking with the pram etc etc, but I really really hate looking and feeling mumsy and boring, so am determined to inject my wardrobe with some fun bits for summer.

Actually also have a significant birthday of my dad's to attend three week's post natal, which I am not even deigning to think about right now (I figure if I managed to show up in clean clothes having had a shower, they should be bloody grateful). Possibly I should start to panic about clothes for that too!

Pastels - I have decided I might consider being at home to a pale apricot nail varnish, but all the lilacs and mauves can just bog off. I don't need extra help looking corpse-like after I give birth!

Summer means dresses for me!
Spring more difficult, once the opaques and boots season past but too soon fir bare legs and sandals!
I haven't got to grips with that yet.
Am an Autumn too so suppose will need to hunt down khaki and coral type colours.
I do a lot of navy too.

Last summer was my first as an Autumn and youngest DD turned 3 and started sleeping through the night so I started feeling a bit more put together! My favourite summer look is slim capri pants in navy or kakhi with light olive, mushroom or coral tops and a panama hat (my husband's wedding hat from 2000!)

Georgina I think dresses are going to be dead to me as can't BF in them (apart from wrap dresses, which make me look like a pillow tied in the middle).

Spring is abloody nightmare - I can just about manage shorts and flip flops if it gets baking hot, but that in between bit is a nightmare. WTF do you wear on your feet?

Nick I am quite tempted to buy a trilby/fedora/panama, but suspect that rather than making me look insouciantly fabulous I will just look a bit of a tit. Where did you find your capri pants?

Well I'm newly pregnant so mat clothes all the way, judging my how I've popped out already Hmm so dresses, and tunics long tops with leggings, which I've come back to liking luckily.

Otherwise I'd go for my usual of distressed jeans as a foil for simple separates in jersey or white cotton, a good pedi and an array of nice sandals - I can at least do that bit. And big sunnies.

shredded I'm the same, water retention or something. I want some lovely maternity wear lol

I always start with shoes first, so a good sandal that will work with dresses/ skirts and jeans. I'm going to stick with boyfriend jeans (gap have some reduced in store to £14.99, don't let the 'sexy' put you off!) rather than skinnies for summer, I think they look and feel better when it is warmer. Some nice jersey basic tops that are loose fitting.

I was in the same position as you last year in that I was BFing so very few dresses worked, I had a couple of button down ones that were ok. Some nice shorts and skirts were better for boob access coupled with stretchy vest that I could pull down and I always carried a scarf or muslin to cover my modesty if I felt I was so we here I needed to.

Ooh, hadn't thought of boyfriend jeans, good idea. Loved the off-white skinnies I got last year, but they're not exactly the most practical for child-wrangling.
