I want a new hair style - please help!

I've got an appointment booked next week but no idea what I want! I have long hair, very fine and wavy, and have lots of short tufty bits round my hairline from where it is growing back after falling out after DD was born. DD grabs my hair so much I have finally snapped and want it cut off!

However I have no time for styling (barely time for a shower tbh) so want something which will just fall into place. Is that wishful thinking? I'm wondering if it might look worse for not being able to just shove it in a pony tail...

Any ideas greatly received!

Bump - please!

Mmm it might be wishful thinking for a perfect hairstyle that doesn't need styling!
How about a long bob, just long enough to tie back?

StarsAbove · 27/01/2014 11:51

Ooh that's a good idea, thanks! Just long enough to tie back but not long enough to get stood on by baby crawling over my head! Thanks:)

If you're going for a long bob, make sure you make it really clear about needing to be able to tie the whole lot back without shorter layers springing free for small hands to yank. I had this discussion with a hairdresser once and still ended up with layers popping out of my ponytail. Luckily I was still in the hairdressers (actually only about half-way through the cut) when I checked, so complained, as I had been really explicit about not having too-short layers. I got a discount... To be fair, it was a good cut but bloody annoying fiddling with clips/kirbys for about 5 weeks til the layers had grown in enough to tie back.

Honestly, anything mid-length is going to be harder than what you've got. If it's ease you want, keep it way long enough to all go into a ponytail - or have a crop!

StarsAbove · 27/01/2014 12:12

Bet you were really annoyed Stella!
A crop would be easy to manage day to day but I think I'd have to go to the hairdresser often and even pre DC I only went about twice a year! Maybe I should do the MN cut!

Just thought I'd add my 2 cents here.

Long bob (I've got one but on/below shoulders) looks great BUT I've noticed it looks great when styled with BBH.

You can just curl any layery bits under etc or flick out takes minutes to do and I really think it makes a difference to my overall hair look.

phoolani · 27/01/2014 14:12

Agree the BBH can do wonders with fairly minimal effort - I've got a longish bob and I wouldn't be without my BBH! But it is more effort than I ever had to make when I just used to put my hair up everyday!

tackytiger · 27/01/2014 14:22

I've just chopped about six inches off my long hair to go for a blunt long Bob. hairdresser refused to take it up as short as I wanted but I'm going back to go right up to chin length I think. What is this BBH you speak of? Grin Grin

Scarbella2 · 27/01/2014 14:44

I was in the exact same position as you, long hair with no time to do anything with it and the little ones using it as a weapon against me! So I went for the chop last August and haven't looked back to be honest. I initially got that shorter at the back bob that everyone seems to have but have been changing it slightly every time I get it cut to look a little funkier. It is so easy to manage now- I sometimes pop my head under the sink in the kitchen throw in a bit of frizz ease cream and let it dry naturally and it is fine.
Basically my advise is go for it. It will make you look more kept and make your life easier.

HelloBoys · 27/01/2014 16:02

tackytiger - BBH = Babyliss Big Hair - a rotating heated hairbrush.

tackytiger · 27/01/2014 17:24

ah, thank you Helloboys. I shall investigate.

StarsAbove · 27/01/2014 19:40

Thanks ladies! Scarbella, how often do you have to have yours cut to keep it looking good?

OP posts:
Scarbella2 · 29/01/2014 17:04

Sorry only seen this question now! I cut it maybe every 7/8 weeks. It only starts to look a little dishevelled at that stage. Find pics you like and google your face type for inspiration.

Thank you!

Surely, hair extensions will be a wonderful idea for you. Just search for a beauty salon in your area and go for the cut or styling that you need.

KIRILL · 05/05/2014 07:57

Hair extension can be suitable to your need. You can go for a layered cut and braid hair extension in any beauty salon in your near by area. This type of hair extension is suitable for stronger and long hair.

'Scuse my ignorance but what's the MN cut?
