Calling nail experts - I need your help

My nails are naturally very weak and soft. They spilt and break really easily.

I have a new job and I cannot wear clear nail varnish so any of the usual products that I use, ie Nail envy etc are out of the question.

I take a hair/skin and nails supplement.

Can anyone recommend a product to help them grow and strengthen but that is not a varnish?

Thanks

Unfortunately, a lot of nail growth pattern is luck and heredity.

You could try Korres Nail Oil (in a tube with a brush on it, so handy to carry round and apply at odd moments). Otherwise, any oil or Vaseline. All products are based on them, so use a brand if it pleases you or the basic stuff if you're not bothered about a Name or are broke.

You could try topping the nail envy with a matte top coat like Essie matte about you, then it won't be obvious?

You need a good quality b vitamin supplement , it has to have all the b vitamins in . I would steer clear of false nails and gel nails as in my experience it will weaken them .

midnightinmoscow · 25/01/2014 17:28

Thanks for the suggestions, like the idea of the nail oil.

whereis, that would be a good idea, but shouldn't have it on for infection control reasons rather than what it looks like. I have to tell people not to wear it myself, so can't bend the rules!

home - would you say I'd need a B vit on top of the hair/skin/nails one?

Get a really good hand and nail cream. I think clarins do one. Or try scholl. The body shop also do a really nice almond oil one.

Apparently colloidal silica (taken as a supplement, not a mail treatment on your actual nails) helps improve nail strength.

Mavlava Scientifique (sp?) is what I have been using. my nails haven't broken since I started using it. I have to actually trim and file them.

It is blue liquid hardener you paint on the tips and it sort of absorbs into them, so it isn't nail varnish.

Umbongolongo · 26/01/2014 02:21

Apparently eating jelly cubes is good for them!

hollyisalovelyname · 26/01/2014 08:50

I was going to suggest Mavala Scientifique also.
I have just started using it to try and strengthen my nails. You put it on twice a week. It doesn't show on your nails.

This is lovely. Put a drop on each nail and massage in after you've got into bed each night. You can also add a drop to your hand cream too. I've been using it for a month and have noticed my nails are more supple.

Solar oil by CND is the one all the nail bloggers use and recommend. Rub it into nails morning and night.
