Dry lips

I have really dry lips, I've tried various balms and lip creams, but nothing seems to help, I would like to wear some colour on my lips but I only really have glosses at the moment and they just seem to separate and make my lips look worse. I would love to try some of the bolder lipstick shades that are about, but I'm worried my lips are too dry. Can anyone recommend a moisturising lipstick that might help?

No advice on lippy, but lansinoh, the nipple cream that you use when breast feeding is awesome. Apply a layer before you go to sleep. Also in the shower, gently exfoliate with a flannel. Then wear lansinoh in the day.

It goes on like gloss and looks like clear lip gloss. It is my essential stuff!

Can I just say I ONLY get dry lips when I've been using a lip
balm regularly. The best thing to do is go cold turkey on all lip products (incl lipstick/gloss) but I know that can be uncomfortable.

I find the best thing to use is either Blistex intensive moisturiser for lips (it comes in packaging, rather than loose with the other lip balms) or if it's really bad, Blistex medicated lip moisturiser, which will be found near the coldsore treatments.

Hope this helps.

Nivea pink shimmer ....it's a lip balm with a hint of pink

Nuxe lip balm is great. My lips were awful and after using this for a couple if weeks they're in much better condition.

I've rediscovered Carmex for the first time in about ten years and it's brilliant. I've had a cold this week and my lips are flaking all over the place, and one application of Carmex helped tons.

Carmex. It's amazing.
Vaseline makes my lips worse as does any lipstick. Maybe drink more water to ensure you are properly hydrated too

i just use nivea lip salve first thing in the morning before lip gloss. i also agree continual re applying might contribute to dry lips.

I have very dry lips and they've been bad all my life. It gets marginally better if I drink masses of water and don't drink alcohol. The best thing I've found is the Terry Baume de Rose. It's not cheap but it easily lasts 12 months. I use it 5-8 times a day and slather it on at night. I can now wear lipstick everyday.

Unless I use an SLS free toothpaste my lips crack and peel and generally look like shit. It was a revelation the day I discovered my toothpaste was the cause of my lip woes.

Another vote for carmex. Also, drink lots of water.

One word, nuxe. I use it before bed every night. I lost a pot a few weeks ago so went without for two nights and my lips were in a state. I bought a new pot and my woes were over.

I use Blistex when my lips are really sore. I get very sore lips after wearing Bobbi brown moisturising lipstick - think about what's causing it too.

Carmex. Saver shop has it in tube form ATM at £1.50p.

minnie0907 · 24/01/2014 16:59

I recommend Carmex, works wonders.

Saurus72 · 24/01/2014 20:32

Burt's Bees, reapplied regularly throughout the day.

southeastastra · 24/01/2014 20:33

body shop lip scuff seems to be quite good at making lips smooth

barleysugar · 24/01/2014 20:36

Maybelline Babylips is lovely, and you can get tinted ones too.

PoisonedApple · 24/01/2014 21:27

Carmex or blistex...

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 24/01/2014 21:30

Carmex completely useless for me, does nothing. Blistex medicated cream in a tube is the best, and Body Shop lip scuff gets all the rough bits off.
