Postpartum hair woes

Well they said it wouldn't last and they were right. I'm shedding like crazy and I'm sure it's thinner than it was before.

What do you recommend that really works for volume and thickness? I need a total haircare overhaul as the things I've been using for the last year are too heavy now. I've been using hair powders with some success but they feel a bit manky.

Am I destined to have shit hair until I fall pregnant again?

Try taking hair and nail vitamins.
You'll start getting new growth soon and you'll have a little fringe and halo of baby hairs.... the joys of motherhood :-)

Your hair won't stay shit, it will just go back to how it was pre-preg. The hair you're losing is all the hair you should have lost for 9 months or so, in one hit, and then the regrowth comes in one hit too, hence the halo/fringe awfulness - I had to actually gel mine to avoid weird sticky upness. Not my finest hour.

Yes, what's with the postpartum cow lick?

AmberLeaf · 23/01/2014 12:02

Yes you are only losing what you should have lost the nine months of pregnancy.

Brewers yeast tablets are supposed to be good for hair and nails.

My head has spontaneously sprouted a wispy fringe Blush

I hated my teeny tiny fringe post-partum!

My tips would be to get highlights to increase body, but from a v good hairdresser who will highlight even the teeny fringey bits.

And dry shampoo also a great quick fix to add body, especially if you're coping with a newborn. Squoosh a little into your roots with hair upside down, shake your hands through, throw head back and put in a high pony or loop. Smooth gently with a little oil or serum if needed to disguise the baby hairs.

This + Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser + Chanel lippy (a little luxury) was my look for approximately 6 months iirc.

I lost lots of hair post part... it was coming out in clumps. Nioxin shampoo is good although its pretty expensive. I think that the bags under my eyes and the scatty baby brain help distract the attention from my bald bits....

smoke and mirrors.....
