Skin reaction to BB cream?

I bought the Maybelline one from Boots last week. I've never used a BB cream before but over the past few days I've developed little tiny spots from the edge of my nose to the edge of my mouth on both sides in a strip. Getting quite dry and red. It's not where I would normally get spots and I was wondering if it was a skin reaction to the cream. It contains salicyclic acid 2% and I have sensitive skin.

Can anyone recommend a BB cream that would be better for sensitive skin? And I've been applying it like a foundation. Should I be sticking to just T. zones?

It is quite possibly the salicylic acid. You do apply BB creams like foundation though.

Personally I find Western BB creams to be a bit rubbish and prefer Korean ones - BB creams started in Korea. You can only get them online here but there are lots of samples available. There are a few ebay sellers, I use f2plus1, all her stuff is genuine and very well-priced. Samples will be around £2-£3 for at least 5, a full BB cream will be £7-£11 ish depending on brand. Missha is a really good brand, amazingly luxe packaging for the price too.

Thanks Little Baby. Which type do you use? Is the one with tea tree oil good?

I agree Little the Korean BB creams are brilliant and bear no resemblance to western ones.

I have sensitive skin and have never had a reaction to Korean brand stuff.

If you have a current skin problem, I'd been inclined to stay clear of anything tea tree - it's actually quite harsh and might make it worse.

I have combo skin and tend to use Skin79 The Oriental (in the pink container) and Lioele Beyond the Solution. The Lioele can be quite good for clearing up minor skin complaints.

Yes, tea tree is a bit harsh for sensitive skin. I have fairly sensitive skin and use Missha Perfect Cover in the lightest shade. I am paler than the palest MAC foundation fwiw.

Also I would get loads of samples first - just search on ebay for bb cream sample and loads will come up.

Sorry to hijack but has anyone tried the Simple BB cream? I use a lot of their other products as my skin is also sensitive.

Thanks Finabear. I'll have a look at simple as well.

Simple is really harsh! Worth a try (although it is orange on me anyway) but Simple skincare is full of additives and not actually very sensitive-friendly.

Try this mixed bag of samples.

Skinfood and Innisfree are lovely Korean brands and good for sensitive skin, lots of natural ingredients.

LittleBabyPigsus · 21/01/2014 18:22

Also a great aspect of Korean BB creams is the much higher spf - Missha Perfect Cover has spf 42!

ButterflySandwich · 21/01/2014 23:16

Oo thank you everyone, I'll give those a try x

Yar, Butterfly, that's the one (though I got the container with the rouge in the top).

That sample mix looks pretty good, Little.
