More sleep and more exercise. And, at this time of year, a shot of natural outside daylight in the mornings (preferably combined with the exercise). Sorry, but there's no miracle solution. Trust me, I'm a health journalist. People will come on this thread saying Give Up This or Try That, but whether or not you ditch bread/sugar/carbs/booze/anything else, you need more sleep and more exercise. Water and fruit won't do it either.

kaumana · 20/01/2014 14:38

I was going to say pretty much the same as motherinferior. If you exercise more, you'll sleep better + the endorphins released by exercising will boost your spirits.

LaCerbiatta · 20/01/2014 14:46

More water helps me. Also, I do know a couple of people who were permanently tired and it turned out they were gluten intolerant, so giving up carbs isn't a completely ludicrous suggestion. Also, it's well known that diet high in sugar can result in tiredness when your blood sugar drops, so again trying a low carb diet can be a reasonable suggestion.

LaCerbiatta · 20/01/2014 14:48

If you're really so tired that you struggle to get on with normal life hypothyroidism could be the reason.

Hopefully · 20/01/2014 15:09

more water, more fresh food, less sugar (always hard at first, but well worth it in terms of energy), more exercise, especially outside in natural light.

cardamomginger · 20/01/2014 15:11

A proper amount of sleep (but not too much). Exercise. Less refined sugar. Proper meals. Drink enough water. Multivitamin can help.

But if you are literally dropping from exhaustion, see your GP. You could be anaemic, or something else.

AnaisB · 20/01/2014 16:28

Have you been to the gp?

almondfinger · 20/01/2014 16:49

Go to the GP and get your thyroid and iron levels tested.

Bonsoir · 20/01/2014 18:23

The "more exercise" is assuming that you don't do loads already. Too much physical exertion can be very tiring and sitting down more can help.

More sleep of better quality is good. Go to bed early.

Hopefully · 20/01/2014 18:26

True, Bonsoir.

TwatWeevil · 20/01/2014 18:26

Start taking iron tablets, but get tested by the GP first.

naturelover · 20/01/2014 18:52

Get your Vitamin D level checked too. Apparently most of us are deficient in winter as you can't get enough from diet alone - you need sunlight and there isn't much!

burnishedsilver · 20/01/2014 19:05

I'd start with the gp and take it from there. All of the other suggestions are great once you have ruled out a medical cause.

ShreddedHoops · 20/01/2014 19:25

More red meat and less sugar.

Theonlyoneiknow · 20/01/2014 19:55

A b-complex vitamin will help.

boobashka · 21/01/2014 15:15

I was feeling exhausted and went to GP - turns out I have anaemia due to v heavy periods. Have started taking iron supps which have helped. Felt exhausted again after my last period.

Definitely get it checked out by the GP. Good luck - it's a horrible feeling.
