hi
I have a friend, well some one ive known in my area for a while. lovely person, who chooseto dress as a lady for the past 30yrs. she is 60 and doesn't really know where to start with what style, tone of makeup to where

bless her she wears bright pink lippy and flaky foundation. I really want to help her but dont want to give the wrong advice as im half her age and not to clued up on tones.

don't want any one to think im interfering, she has asked me for advice on style and make up... so ive turn t you guys :-)

so, which type of foundation for her age skin? liquid, mineral powder, pressed? she has dry skin and I often see stubble rash :-(

what is the best way to do make up for her, she likes to wear lipstick, her eyelids are quite low so I don't think eye shadow is needed? is blusher used on 60yr olds?

any other advice would be appreciated. x

"Pixiwoo" makup tutorials on youtube are the best!!

I would think a fairly thick foundation would be needed as this will better cover stubble/5 o clock shadow. If she has dry skin then an oil based foundation is better than water based. Look for a foundation colour as close to the natural skin tone as possible. Lipstick is really down to personal preference and then sticking to what suits best. She shouldn't be scared to experiment a bit.

Eyeshadow can really open the eye and the best colour match will be down to what colour her eyes are. She/you should have a look on Youtube where there will be lots of video tutorials on how to apply eyeshadow/liner. In fact I bet there are plenty of video make up tutorials on You Tube that would be of specific interest to your friend.

She doesn't need to avoid blusher, maybe use a cream blusher if the skin is very dry.

A good moisturiser might help disguise the stubble rash a bit and will definitely help with the flakiness in general. Based on my experience of having very dry skin, I would suggest a liquid foundation over powder as I found powder just settled on dry patches and made them really obvious and scabby looking.

This might be a stupid question but is waxing or some other form of hair removal not an option?

mouses · 20/01/2014 14:17

I thought a mineral powder would be best, shows what im useless at haha

what is oil based? a liquid? she uses liquid, maybe its the wrong one?
as for lipstick she does like her pink and isnt to scared to wear it :-) only problem is that with flaky foundation and bright pink lippy sticking to teeth - i just worried as ive been on the bus and people snigger.

she doesn't have a computer so I will look for her. I don't want to give wrong advice, will have a look on you tube.

There'll be loads of specific advice for your friend. Just google "transgender make-up". Good luck!
