I keep hearing raves about scarves here but I only wear wool scarves (3 total).

Got chiffon cream Grey feather print scarf as gift from friend which I sometimes wear but I don't otherwise.

Where am I going wrong?

Suggestions pls?

Hi helloboys I find one of the best places for scarves are charity shops, I am a huge lover of scarves, pashminas, shawls and such like...... I love how versatile and useful they are, they can bring an outfit together. I do tend to stick to natural fibers as I feel that they wear better and look nicer.

DrNick - that is my main problem. if I buy a scarf I won't know what to do with it. how to tie so it looks classy/trendy/chic etc.

I don't know how to tie them so they , on me, I think they look silly.

I have a friend for example who wears mixed fibre wool and chiffon scarves and looks great. I think some scarves are nice but maybe not for me...

I have a vintage graphic scarf (present) for me in Paris (navy, orange and white all rectangle/square outlines but no idea how to tie it how it looks nice and it's a square shape.

I also have a blue lace scarf from Spain (present) but no idea how to tie this.

any ideas would be nice.

Look on YouTube for videos on how to tie scarves. The Mint Velvet one is good, as are their scarves.

For silk or chiffon scarves, I'd recommend using a pretty belt buckle, such as this one.
Just bring both ends through from behind, then poke them back through the opposite side of the buckle.

Some lovely scarves on sale at Anna here. They are a bit pricier than some but they do last and feel lovely.

I also like the White Stuff woollen scarves- I have a pale grey and yellow one.

If you like a bit of label, then the Outnet often stocks names at sale prices. I bought two Marc Jacobs cotton jersey scarves last year for £24 each, not much more than full price Accessorize.

I wear scarves a lot. Didn't used to, but I find they are an easy way to liven up boring jumpers/tops.

Hermes have some fabulous scarf tying tutorials on line.

HelloBoys · 20/01/2014 11:26

princessalbert - that sounds like a good idea and more something I'd do. thanks

Some cute ones here: www.powder-uk.co.uk/view_product.php?c_id=57&sc_id=158

Should be easy enough to wear.

rollonthesummer · 20/01/2014 19:26

Scarves are brilliant for keeping you warm as well-I am a total convert!

Obviously, if you wear plain clothes-choose patterned scarves but if you wear lots of brightly coloured clothes-go for plainer scarves.

A big slouchy loose slung-around casually scarf needs to be as long as you are tall, when you hold it up by one end. I live in scarves. Love 'em.
