Non strip wax-which one to buy and from where?

I got my waxing done using hard hot wax/ non strip wax and found it a lot less painful than the strip wax. I want to buy some for my domestic use but don't know which brand is good. Also, would I have to buy a wax warmer as well? Please could someone help me with this.thanks.

I use Veet microwave wax when I use some (currently haven't for a while.) I have used two other brands (can't remember names off-hand), but they just weren't as effective.

I have just bought a warmer and hard wax from Amazon, as my waxing habit is costing me a fortune!

This is the warmer and this is the wax.

I haven't used them yet.

I''m a beauty therapist & thought I'd let you know the technique is different to applying strip wax & it is not so easy to do on your self. Always test the heat of the wax on your inner wrist first. Apply the wax pushing against the hair & swirl the wax to make a circle. Pat it when set, pull the skin taut then pull off against the hair growth. I'm not sure what wax or heater you can buy in the shops. I am not in the UK. If you can get a professional heater & wax you will get better results. Always apply an after wax lotion & use a pre wax lotion on the area prior to removal. Just make sure if you but a heater with wax that you can get replacement wax after. You need large & small/med lolly sticks. If you can go to a Sally beauty wholesales you can get everything there.

@ Ebearhug: I currently use Veet strips. They are fine in terms of results but the difference in the level of pain was just amazing.

@KareKare : thanks for the links I have read some very positive reviews on both products. Would you come back and tell us about your experience once you have tried them yourself?

@Megbeth: Thanks for this information. Much appreciated. Would I be able to buy a decent quality wax and wax heater from Sally beauty warehouse? I do not want to be stuck with a particular brand of wax. In fact I would quite like to use different brands to see which one I like best. Would you be able to recommend a heater which I could use for any brand of hot wax?

The microwave wax is different from the strips - I don't get on so well with the strips.

TinyDiamond · 20/01/2014 00:42

I bet you could melt wax in a pot within a slow cooker. thinks

Well today I have given myself a Brazilian wax.

It took roughly 3x as long as my beauty therapist takes and I now realise it's quite a skill.

It was quite a nice way to spend my time and I watched an episode of Columbo whilst I did it. Grin

The wax and warmer are very good, just as good as what I have experienced in the salon. You have to put to wax on thick! Otherwise you're left with pesky little bits stuck to your skin. It smells nice and despite my putting it on too hot and go over some bits twice (where I'd put wax on too thinly) my skin was not irritated or peeled at all.

It was very satisfying, although my dh wasn't as delighted with my pile of hairy wax afterwards as I was.

Thank you for updating us. It nearly took me three hours to do my legs the other day with strip wax. I also quite liked spending my 'me' time like that :)

Would it be too much if I asked you how did you manage to do the ahem inner sift bits as my beautician asks me to hold/ stretch whilst she wax me there. Ditto for the top triangle but perhaps its just me due to my loosely hanging tummy

You should be able to get one like this or maybe could order from them direct.

www.hiveofbeauty.com/Catalogue/ProductDetail/mini-wax-heater-0-5-litre?productID=626ad510-74c2-447b-9a52-da725a13d6a5&catalogueLevelItemID=ec6b345b-17b8-4a32-bccd-a7c296b6c49e

In Sally there would be various hot waxes to choose from. I'm not familiar with UK brands now.

You must use an after wax lotion as it contains antiseptic as the follicle is open to infection after waxing. If some hairs are missed do not go over the same area as it will hit & a bit red. if you can tweeze them out or wait until last to redo those areas.

Megbeth · 20/01/2014 15:42

*hot & be a bit red
