Yes I want to jump on all band wagons! I get the gist I should be using coconut oil and a hot cloth for one tage but what is the other cleanse? Have combination skin that hates foaming/water involving cleanser....

Bumping this for you as I'd like to know too!

You just repeat the hot cloth stage. You don't need to use coconut oil though, I am much more successful with a standard cream cleanser - cheap ones are fine, the technique is the most important bit.

And what is the 'hot cloth stage' Blush I promise I'm not stupid but I don't understand

Erm, what you use the hot cloth and cleanser for Confused

Do you know what to do with the hot cloth? It is so simple - put your chosen cleanser on your dampened face, soak a muslin cloth or flannel in hot water (hand hot) and use to wipe the cleanser off.

I am slightly puzzled at what else a hot cloth could be used for!

But then do I put the cloth in the wash basket or wring it out etc. I appreciate I may be exceedingly overthinking this...... I've only ever used Anne French on cotton wool or face wipes or nothingConfused

You are definitely otherthinking Grin

It's very easy. Rinse and wring out the cloth, depending on how much makeup you've taken off I would use a new cloth either every day or every couple of days. Wash the cloths and reuse them like you'd wash towels etc. You don't need special cloths btw, basic flannels are just fine or if you have sensitive skin, baby washcloths. You can use Anne French if you like, it's a cream cleanser after all, although I have never used it so couldn't tell what it's like. But cheap cleansers are fine IME - I usually use either the Boots essentials unfragranced cleanser or Waitrose Pure cleanser, both less than £2.

If you really want to be cheap then it's very easy to make your own cleanser (which you can also use as a lotion) - equal amounts jojoba oil (or any other carrier oil, eg olive or sweet almond) and pure aloe vera gel, shaken until emulsified into a lotion. You can make it in a blender to save elbow grease and time. Holland & Barrett sell jojoba oil and aloe vera gel.

Oh, if you make cleanser, add some Vitamin E as a preservative to stop it going off (commercial cleansers will have preservatives - they are not harmful but just keep it fresh). Either cut open a few Vitamin E capsules (the supplement type from the pharmacy) or add some liquid Vitamin E oil - the capsules are usually cheaper.

I hot cloth cleanse and use coconut oil. I use eve lom cleanser with a muslin cloth. Routine is:

remove waterproof mascara using coconut oil (not strictly necessary because the eve lom will get it off but I find it quicker and I use less of the expensive product)

apply eve lom cleanser (its like a balm you only need a tiny bit). Massage into face in funny movements (you get instructions)
wring out the hot muslin cloth and lay it over face. leave it there for a minute breathing in and out slowly.
use cloth to take off cleanser
repeat if necessary (depends on how much make up I was wearing)
soak cloth in cold water and lay over face leave for a minute

I then use hydralauron, moisturise and then apply very tiny amount of coconut oil around my eyes instead of eye cream and on my neck down across to underneath my boobs.
