Where do you spray your perfume and why?

I occasionally get eczema on my inner elbows and wrists, so I spray it on my clothes. For some reason I tend to spray it as near as possible to where it would usually go, i.e. Wrists, inner elbows, neck - just on my clothes instead of my skin.

Is there any merit in doing this? Am I losing something by not spraying it directly on to my skin?

Don't know about the technology about why you should spray. I spray wrists and arms up to elbow. Occasionally base of neck on either side.

ELR · 17/01/2014 19:33

I spray the back of my neck only one squirt though because I get headaches from strong smells, very occasionally I will spray a little on wrists but that's only of perfume I know doesn't smell too strong.
I quite like coco madamemoiselle but find it a little strong so I bought the body oil spray which is lovely and I can spray it everywhere without getting a headache.

Collarbones and then dab my wrists on it.

mscnile · 17/01/2014 19:39

Neck/collarbone, wrists, spritz in the air and walk through

mscnile · 17/01/2014 19:40

My clothes seem to retain the scent longer than my skin

GlitzAndGiggles · 17/01/2014 19:40

Back and front of neck and down my clothes because I love the smell of my perfume

saggytummy · 17/01/2014 19:53

Definitely spray on skin as perfumes smell different on people. It's always a good start to spray on your neck, wrists and backs of knees and elbows.

I spray in my hair (as in - not on the top bit). I have quite sensitive skin.

Plus I fiddle with my hair a lot and I like getting a waft of fragrance when I do so Blush

MrsBennetsEldest · 17/01/2014 21:24

Neck, wrists, backs of knees ectopic, all pulse points.something to do with blood/temp I think I read somewhere.
I'm sure someone will be along with facts soon.

MrsBennetsEldest · 17/01/2014 21:25

Ectopic Shock. I meant etc.

MajesticWhine · 17/01/2014 21:27

Wrists, neck (sides) and maybe hair

Drywhiteplease · 17/01/2014 21:31

My neck. Heat makes perfume smell stronger I think, which is why you spray it on hot spots so to speak. But I love putting on my clothes and smelling my perfume.

UsedToBeNDP · 17/01/2014 21:34

Clothes as the fragrance lasts longer, most perfumes seem evaporate off my skin within an hour no matter whether they're EDT's, EDP's or more concentrated parfums.

EBearhug · 17/01/2014 21:39

Wrists, inner elbows, sides of neck.

It depends partly what I'm wearing, EdT or EdP or whatever. I've got a couple which go a long way, and they only go on my wrists and neck, and only a light squirt at that. I've got a lighter vervaine one, and in summer, I like spraying that through my hair and down my front and back, and I smell all lemony and fresh.

Longdistance · 17/01/2014 21:42

My collarbone, wrists, and a squirt down thereish, incase I bump into someone vertically challenged!

EBearhug · 18/01/2014 00:24

I once spilt some perfume down there.

It's similar to touching yourself with chillied hands, which I've also done by accident. Plus it's a waste of expensive perfume, running out of half a bottle in one go, and it's way too much, so you have to wash.

But blimey, it burns.

TossedSaladsAndScrambledEggs · 18/01/2014 06:56

See spraying on the backs of knees would definitely set my eczema off. My skin is even more sensitive on my legs...

I take a less is more approach. A spray on my colour bone for strong perfumes, extra spray on wrists for lighter scents - I hate passing someone by on the street and getting a strong whiff of their perfume, it's even worse if you are stuck inside with them.

LittleBabyPigsus · 18/01/2014 12:13

If you have sensitive skin, spray on your hair as well as clothes.

I spray on my neck and usually catch a bit of my collar/sleeve in the process. I do love catching the smell of my perfume on my clothes.
