Sorting wardrobe...need app or not?

Hi I am about to sort my nightmare of a wardrobe. A few questions:
Is it useful to sort outfits and take pictures of potential combinations?
Is an app really useful?
Any other ideas please help as currently my default is jeans and a jumper! I ah be some nice dresses and leggings, but rarely wear them. I just want to utilise all my clothes instead of the few pieces I gravitate too!
TIA

what apps?

sickoflistening · 17/01/2014 15:59

watching with interest. waiting on a knowledgeable mumsnetter to help.

No, make "sections" for types if clothes (evening wear, business, day casual) and then within that sort by type (dresses, tops, skirts etc). Get the wardrobe empty enough that you can easily browse through those sections and keep it all tidy.

A charity shop and a tags bag are essential for this.

Would you really use an app rather than open your wardrobe door and look at the clothes?

So I usually sort clothes by type eg skirts, costs, jackets etc am I doing it wrong?

I've learnt lately what colours and styles suit me and what I shouldn't buy (1 season on trend bits).

Am slowly building what I don't like and paring down!

HelloBoys · 17/01/2014 16:14

Also jan packed wardrobe? Too many clothes. How do you pare it down?

I think I just saw something where a woman took photos of all her potential Outfits and stored them on an app. She then would just scroll though and choose! Extreme? Or did I dream it???

Mine I sorted by type and then colour. I take a quick snap of anything new I buy so I can remind mysef of it when I'm out shopping but an app would be OTT even for me Grin

i rotate my tops, so they go in on the right and i wear them from the left (obviously not rigidly, but it helps me not wear the same thing all the time). the other thing i have done is force myself to wear something each day i dont normally - i did this till i used more or less all my clothes and jewellry and if i really couldn't bring myself to use it/or hated wearing it i got rid of it. made me find loads of new things i never used

Ooh that's a good idea dreaming! I may try that!

Its called stylebook

wasted a few hours taking photos and getting rid of background on photos, sorting into sections and then never ever used it.

Fartnado · 17/01/2014 19:47

Ah thanks I knew there was something. I've just ended up sorting through it all anyway. Couldn't be bothered to do the outfit photo thing -Grin

I have an app but never used it. I think clearing out your wardrobe so you only have that you really wear are key.

I haven't worn my scarves at all so got an over the door hook and hangers so I see them.

zanz1bar · 17/01/2014 21:40

Gone massively off scarves this winter, esp all the animal print scarves I lived in last year.
