You possibly haven't had any replies because describing yourself as a 'fat chick' is you know - a bit too self deprecating?

Anyhow - I am shorter than you, heavier than you and my bust is two cups sizes bigger than you. I have:

A bravissimo suit - it's bright red Grin. Can't seeit on here but they have lots in the sale. Mine is a 38H and i'm 1-2 clothese sizes bigger than you so I reckon you'll be ok for fit.

DO NOT buy one of the dress things. It will weigh you down and make you feel like you have to be ashamed of yourself. Screw that. Buy the brightest suit you can find that shows off your boobs and ENJOY your swim. Life is too short to worry about the size of our arses.

NorthernLurker · 15/01/2014 20:32

I also have a Fantasie suit but dh bought it for me so I don't know where it came from.

juneybean · 15/01/2014 20:39

Debenhams?

MinnesotaNice · 15/01/2014 20:44

Try Land's End. Their suit are really good quality and quite a few have tummy control. The US Land's End online shop has a bigger selection, if you don't mind the shipping charge.

Allinafankle · 15/01/2014 20:53

Bit pricey but I was about the same weight / height / bust size as you when I bought a swimsuit from www.forluna.co.uk
Would highly recommend.

LittleBabyPigsus · 15/01/2014 20:55

Northern I self-describe as fat and don't consider it to be self-deprecating all. I love my body, fatness and all.

OP, try modcloth.com? Lots of really pretty retro-style ones. Evans also has some more retro ones at the moment.

I'm a size 18/20' 5ft 2' size 36j boobs. I wear a bikini abroad as I get to hot in a swimsuit. This is a relatively new things for me since I have discovered really good supportive swimwear from Freya. I wear a bikini top, and bikini skirt if that makes sense? It's bikini bottoms with short skirt attached. I feel really comfortable in it. Ps. Stomach is covered in stretch marks, which I put fake tan on! I agree with previous posters, life's too short to be overly worried about how you look especially on holiday.

NorthernLurker · 15/01/2014 20:57

So do I. I don't combine it with a 'chick' though.

milkybarsrus · 15/01/2014 21:03

Also, I need to say that my little sister who is a taught size 8 and stunningly gorgeous, has no self confidence and refuses to wear a bikini on holiday! So really what I'm saying is work on your confidence and whatever you wear will look better than if you have none! She actually envies me, as I'm free to wear what I think looks ok on me, where as she worries what she looks like and compares herself to others which I think is so sad cos she's beautiful.

HyvaPaiva · 15/01/2014 21:04

I'm not quite 5ft, an 8/10 with 32C chest and I think the style I have would be perfect for you.

I bought one identical to this from Very because I wanted something really retro. It's not old lady-ish and it doesn't look like you're trying to cover up. It has proper 'inner bra cups' for support. It's really flattering and looks good. There are 4 different designs to chose from. The navy polka dot version is a lovely vintage look.

NorthernLurker · 15/01/2014 21:05

That's a good point. There was a thread on here once about swimming parties and practically everybody was saying they would their partner to take the child to avoid being seen in swimwear. That's Not Good.

Deathwatchbeetle · 15/01/2014 21:10

I saw a lovely bright blue one in Marks & Spencer

www.marksandspencer.com/Collection-Tummy-Control-Ruched-Swimsuit/dp/B0055A9CWM?ie=UTF8&ref=sr_1_7&nodeId=43169030&sr=1-7&qid=1389820097&pf_rd_r=172B9FX79XFXG7YCMRE6&pf_rd_m=A2BO0OYVBKIQJM&pf_rd_t=301&pf_rd_i=0&pf_rd_p=321381407&pf_rd_s=center-3

Sorry about lik but it is in cobalt - just go to Marks & Spencers online, swimwear, go to swimsuits.

Floppityflop · 15/01/2014 21:16

I do agree that swimsuit dress things can look a bit daft and not practical for swimming but that polka dot one would look cute on the beach. I think that if you are going on hols a nice structured suit in a pretty fabric would look great. I like the Bravissimo ones and they also have some nice sporty ones if you need it for more active swimming. If you don't mind a tankini - I do! - a boy short style can look nice. I am guessing you wouldn't want a board short or boy short style plus bikini top based on your original question but I always feel better with more bottom coverage and not so bothered about the rest of me.

citruslemon · 15/01/2014 21:26

www.bonmarche.co.uk/swimdresses/icat/swimwear-swimdress/

Bought mine from here. Great quality and price. Didn't affect my swimming at all.

LittleBabyPigsus · 15/01/2014 21:30

Oh sure, definitely don't feel like you should wear a swimdress because you're fat. Wear what you like. I can't swim and avoid beaches but when it's hot and I want to sunbathe in the garden, I wear a bikini or even just undies.

Jux · 15/01/2014 22:45

I have a swimdress (Marisota, years ago). The trouble with it is that the skirt floats, so until you're in pretty deep it feels silly.
