Jeans....remember the ones.....

About a million years ago that you tried on in the shop, the felt a bit stiff cos there wasn't any stretch, struggled a bit to do up, had selected the mens ones anyway cos they had a button fly, took them home and they gradually softened and gave and moulded to you and you lived in them for years until they became indecent?

Well, having written that probably tells you that I'm considerably past the last bit being allowed to happen again but I would like some new jeans that are a decent weight of denim, not infested by bloody stretchiness and not apparently constructed with resting arms in mind as opposed to legs that walk everywhere and carry heavy stuff and pedal me up hills etc.

I bought two decent pairs in Uniqulo a few years back and one pair this year, weight is OK but they have added the ubiquitous stretch, albeit in small quantities so they are ok, just but not mad about them. Used to pick up Seven in TK Maxx where I used to live but they dont seem to get them where I live now and that was five years ago so while willing to fork out for a pair full price if thats what it takes I'm not keen to risk it in case they too have been infected by the stretchy lurgy.....

Boden, just hell
M&S utter rubbish
New look, ditto
Have also looked at and rejected, white stuff, next, etc, etc.

Anyone seen any old fashioned jeans out there? I've even eyed the jeans in the farmers shop......but they're a bit too stonewashed and don't seem to need the assistance of a hanger to stand up so maybe a bit too hardcore!!!

I hated the old jeans! Just never for my shape at all.
However don't rule an otherwise decent pair out on colour; you can buy dyes in black and denim which should sort it out. I do this anyway to restore faded favourites.

I do remember... I used to borrow my dad's Levi's! Have you tried Levi's? Some of their current jeans aren't infected with stretch, not sure which but worth a look.

I agree. Jeans with stretch always go out of shape on me. I find that 7 for all mankind are quite a structured denim (although aren't perfect as they stil have some stretch in).

Hmmm will try Levis, have the old jeans become extinct? How sad! There should be some kind of honouring of them...... or something.... Maybe I will revisit those ones in the farm shop.......

Cardboard jeans! Yup, remember them well. Mine stood up on their own. Charity shops still have them.

You need Japanese selvedge jeans. They can be £££ but are great.
