Could cry as I only got it at Christmas. Caught the arm on a rough piece of door as I passed it and now have a 1cm slit Sad

No down has come out.

Has anyone had one repaired or can recommend what should do. Sob.

Google invisible mending, there are lots of products on Amazon (no good at links)

Does anyone know if these iron on kits would work on down jackets.
Someone burnt some holes in my new coat with a cigarette.
My coat is new.
One of the holes is about 3 cm long.
The reviews say that people are using the kits in cotton etc.
my coat has a synthetic outer layer. Wouldn't the iron melt it further?

If you go into any Cotswold or Snow+Rock they should be able to recommend a company that will professionally repair it. I can't remember what they're called.

If it's new, professional repair is your best bet. It might cost a little bit but your jacket will last longer.

Go to a repairers. Or phone north face

You could try one of those Iron On badges.......loads of people do them...football clubs etc.....if its in an ok position this may just do the trick.

If it was a climbing belay jacket you'd use Gaffer tape and claim you did it somewhere particularly epic.

Assuming this is not, go to either the shop it was bought from or north face directly and ask who they recommend for repairs. I think most would use either Lancashire Sports Repairs or Franklins (Sheffield).

There's a guide to using patches on the Alpkit.com support pages, but they do warn that you can melt your jacket if you get it wrong.

Oh just remembered. Get the price from the shop and from the repairer direct and factor in postage/carriage and time. Where I worked it took longer to get a repair through us because of our delivery system, but we didn't charge carriage.

Thanks everyone. I wrote a long reply yesterday but now see it hasn't appeared on the thread. Hmm

Had a stroke of absolute luck yesterday. I took the coat into Cotswold Outdoor and told them what had happened. They refused to let me pay to get it repaired and have sent it off to be repaired or replaced. I can't believe the customer service offered. Grin Grin Grin

Feeling very lucky.

Cotswold run their business on the values of excellent customer service. They're a brilliant company!

hanbee · 16/01/2014 19:50

Well they have converted me. I will be using them again because of it and have been shouting their praises to anyone who will listen!
