My skin is really noticiably better since I stopped using anti-aging products

Until Christmas for years I have used Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish and a mid-priced anti-aging moisturiser (L'Oreal/Olay etc whatever's on offer at the supermarket)

Short of funds in the run up to Christmas I bought Simple light moisturiser which was (I think) about a 3rd of the price.

My skin is now actually quite youthful. The lines are still there (I'm 43) but the texture of the actual skin is much smoother, softer and fresher. And I haven't has any spots which I'm often prone to.

Now for a cheaper alternate to the Liz Earle......

Er Jess, that's spamming.

OP like you i wanted to find an alternative to balm cleansers. I read on here about the superdrug balm cleansers - there are 2 - I got both & i like them both! Not sure which is my favourite yet but I prefer them to C&P.

HazeltheMcWitch · 13/01/2014 16:17

Sorry, not an alternative to balm cleansers, but just a cheaper one.

naturelover · 13/01/2014 16:19

I recently tried the Superdrug Vit E hot cloth cleanser. It's definitely pretty good and cheaper than Liz Earle. However the strong scent is putting me off a bit. So have a sniff before you buy!

FlossieTreadlight · 13/01/2014 16:20

The superdrug radiance one is less whiffy than Vit E (I think) and I really like it

Fiveleaves · 13/01/2014 16:20

Superdrug natural radiance is a dupe for Liz Earle and often 3 for 2. I wouldn't go back to LE

Fiveleaves · 13/01/2014 16:22

Also, I find a homemade face oil (10ml sweet almond oil and a few drops of neroli oil) at night makes my skin really soft in the morning, better than pricey stuff I was using before (elemis and origins)

Aquelven · 13/01/2014 16:25

I've converted from C&P to this
I still use it with a muslin as a hot cloth cleanser. Love it & great value as there's always one or another offer on.

Sorry. I only wanted to help :(

specialsubject · 13/01/2014 17:36

look at the ingredients on the posh stuff and the cheap stuff. Let me know if you find a difference.

whatiswrongwithyou · 13/01/2014 18:14

I've found exactly the same OP. I've been using the Bodyshop vitamin E range these last few months after years of expensive anti-wrinkle cream and serum.

The difference is amazing. My face is actually moisturised, no dry patches or dull looking skin. I've just bought the Superdrug vit e range to try next as it seems to be very recommended on mn.

Una Brennan's Superfacialist Rose Cream Cleanser is really lovely. £7.99 in Boots, often on special offer. I've used a lot of different cream cleansers, including Liz Earle, the Superdrug one and even super expensive Eve Lom, and this one is the nicest. Very soothing and calming, yet still removes all make up.
