Does anyone wear Scholl shoes?

Tried some on in the shop the other day, thinking they were supposed to be comfortable/good for your feet. I found them really uncomfortable. With the wooden soles and a biggish bump it seems to me in a fairly uncomfortable place.

Should I get some and get used to them? Anyone? I read it's supposed to feel like walking barefoot but I found them hard and uncomfortable, not at all like walking barefoot.

Yes, just been reading a bit about them on the web, they're supposed to exercise feet and legs and give you "shapely calves" but they seem SO uncomfortable. Birkenstocks look a bit clumpy but they are comfortable. It's not like you have to wear them in or anything.

Wouldn't your sweaty feet slide around on the wooden soles too?

I'm wondering if you get used to them after a bit. I tried them on in the shop and took a couple of steps and thought: err... no, maybe not, couldn't imagine spending all day in them (but I would like the shapely calves!)

absolute agony if you have a high instep - bump in the wrong place and the strap thingy cuts your foot. i hate mine. must burn them.

SSSandy · 26/07/2006 20:25

eek fishie, so they stay uncomfortable

Why did you buy them? Did they seem ok in the shop?

yes they seemed nice, the wood felt sort of silky on the foot. i even tried lining them with sticky fleece stuff but awful bloody pain. and for some really stupid reason i got birkenstocks madrids with the same strap. i am footwear fool.

SSSandy · 26/07/2006 21:11

I was going to get Birkenstock Madrids on Saturday. Are they painful too?!

fishie · 26/07/2006 21:16

it is just the shape of the foot i think - me v high instep + wide foot = cannot wear that sort of single strap. my friend with flattish narrow foot has no probs with her madrids.

SSSandy · 26/07/2006 21:30

Think I'm going to check out the madrids first. I mean if those scholl shoes are so uncomfortable when you try them on, maybe it means you have the wrong shape feet (ie I have the wrong shape feet)

Thanks for that fishie

For some reason I do have a hankering for them though and they're cheap. Might get a pair for clomping around the house in and see how I go but can't see myself going shopping in them or anything

I must be off my head, why buy a pair of uncomfortable shoes for clomping about at home in?! Bet I do though, have a feeling I'll get some tomorrow.

i have some

love wering them around the house and garden and they lengthen your legs and make them look much more fab than birkies

but too clumpy to wear out really

Enid · 26/07/2006 21:43

i have a high instep and they are still very comfy

SSSandy · 26/07/2006 21:46

Did you always find them comfy, Enid, even when they were new?

So they do shape up your calves then?

OP posts:
Enid · 26/07/2006 21:53

no they have got more comfy

they must do as you can feel them pulling the muscles

SSSandy · 26/07/2006 22:24

I will give them a go. I like the look of them

I've been reading that you need to break them in by adjusting to a snug fit, then loosen one notch, spray water inside before you put them on, wear a couple of times then tighten a notch

complicated. Apparently you have to break them in according to the instructions in the box. We shall see

I got some today. I love them.

Now that I realised they are actually exercise sandals which you need to break in and not meant to be comfy walking shoes, I didn't find them uncomfortable. Been walking round at home in them. They're a bit on the noisy side but I think I'll get another pair. I got red which wasn't the colour I actually wanted but I'll get some more if I can find a shop with more variety
