Ok Beauty Gurus. U haven't let me down in the past and I'm counting on u again.

I want something to use everyday on my face which will hide or reduce redness. I had read somewhere Cliniques CC cream is good. Has anyone tried it or can ye recommend something else. I am a mum of 4 and have feck all time so would like something quick and easy.

Hit me with it ladies!!!!!

what is the cause of the redness- is it broken veins, skin problems, etc- makes a difference to the answer!

burnishedsilver · 10/01/2014 17:02

To counteract redness you would usually use a green base under your normal make up.

Something like this, but most brands do one.

ProfondoRosso · 10/01/2014 17:05

I found Avene anti-rougeur moisturiser pretty good for counteracting my red, red face Smile I use Maybelline BB Cream on top.

MrsFlorrick · 10/01/2014 17:28

I am red of face too. It's a pain. I only have 2 DC so way more time than you. Wink

Try Dermalex for Rosacea. You can buy in boots. It's the only thing which has permanently reduced redness. Everything else aimed at redness burns my face and makes it worse.

You don't saying your face is dry or oily.

If oily I'd try Lily Lolo mineral makeup. Reasonably priced and super quick to apply. It covers really well.

If you face is dry. Avoid mineral makeup. It may irritate.

I use RMS beauty Un-cover. I use the Real Techniques super foundation brush to apply. It takes less than 30 seconds for my face to go from this Angry to this Grin.

I hasten to add that I use this because I react badly to products with silicones in. If they are fine for you then the world is your oyster.

Liz Earle skin tint has amazing coverage. Hid redness but it contains silicones so I broke out in red welts. Again easy to apply. It's meant to be tinted moisturiser. But it has more coverage than a lot of foundation. If you have oily skin this isn't for you!

Lots of wiser folk will be along shortly. Grin

The Dermalex is amazing for dry skin. Restores its balance.

You could look into treatments for Rosacea. GP can give you various things to apply or take. Rosex gel/cream, Finacea and similar. Or oral antibiotics. It may work or it may not and it may only work for a short while.

I've tried pretty much all of it. I found it works for a while but then stops. Annoying.

My best and longest results have been with Dermalex cream. (Not prescription.).

Also I OCM. Oil cleansing. I never use "normal" cleanser or soap on my face. I use Rice bran oil or hazelnut oil (you could use any oil, google to see which oil is good for your specific issues).
I apply the oil and massage it gently over face for a minute or two. The use a muslin rinsed in very hot water to wipe the oil away (wipe downwards).

That has made an amazing difference for my skin. If I had discovered oil cleansing at age 18, I probably wouldn't have the problems I now do.

And best of all. It's very fast and very cheap. What's not to like. Grin

Captainbarnacles1101 · 10/01/2014 17:44

Is there a make up I could use that's specifically for redness?

MissBeehiving · 10/01/2014 17:51

I've been using Salcura after seeing it recommended on here and it is A-MAZING . My skin is normally dry and sensitive (and red) but this stuff makes it feel and look absolutely normal. Avene and La Roche Posay are fine but this stuff is very very good. They do samples which you pay the postage for so you can try it.

MrsFlorrick · 10/01/2014 18:28

Yes there is. Various companies do redness cover ups. Lily Lolo do a green one. Covers the redness but makes you look seasick.

Clinique do a yellow one which covers redness. Can make you look a bit jaundiced tho.

Captainbarnacles1101 · 10/01/2014 20:09

A Jeez I already look knackered, if I add sea sick and jaundiced my OH will have me committed! I'm shocked there isn't a nice wee tinted something I can swipe on in the morning when I'm brushing my teeth serving breakfast and bleaching the blog!!!

Clinique do a redness solutions foundation that's good but a little heavy on me.I use a pea size amount and it goes a long way.The Redness Solutions skincare range is very good as is the Cleansing Balm.Cc cream is easy to swipe on and very natural but isn't particularly good for disguising rosiness. The best foundation is the oil free matte make up.
Finally I have really sensitive reactive skin and I find the best thing is to use as few products as possible and not to keep on trying lots of different products.

faustina · 10/01/2014 20:33

Vichy dermalbend corrective foundation is what I use (sparingly). it covers rosacea really well. You can get it from Boots - it's not green tinted to wear under makeup - it's skin coloured to wear as makeup. I find it works best if you dot it over the reddest bits and then blend in

QueenofLouisiana · 10/01/2014 21:50

I use Boots BB cream, no. 7. It is really effective and not expensive.

standupandbecountered · 10/01/2014 22:14

I really like the Clinique cc cream. They'll give you a diddy pot if you ask one of the scary make up counter ladies. You only need a tiny amount so a diddy pot will last you a week. I've also found sothys products have really calmed my skin down, they are super mild. Like a pp said, I've found anti redness products can cause even more irritation!

WestmorlandSausage · 10/01/2014 22:18

concur if Faustina that Vichy Dermablend is your answer. You can buy it in boots next to all the expensive (for boots) moisturiser.

Spaulding · 11/01/2014 01:05

I have redness from rosacea. I'm also extremely pale. The lightest shade in Clinique's Redness Solutions foundation made me look orange! Also tried Vichy's Dermablend. The liquid foundation was again too dark, and the stick was better but clung to any dry bits of skin.

My Holy Grail foundation was Estée Lauder's Double Wear Camouflage Foundation for Face & Body but they've discontinued my shade. Have a look though because there might be a shade suitable for you. It's full coverage. Literally covers EVERYTHING. But it makes you look like a ghost in flash photography. So I don't recommend it for a night out where pics might be taken!

I also like MAC Studio Fix Fluid for coverage but personally it irritates my skin.

I'm currently using Estée Lauder Double Wear. Just the ordinary foundation. It's a light-medium coverage. I apply it with a brush all over, then dot over my redness with the end of the brush, to layer and build up the coverage. I set it with a powder and you would never know I had rosacea underneath.

Walnut8 · 11/01/2014 12:13

revlon colorstay.

PaperBagPrincess · 11/01/2014 13:04

Reading with interest. I have very slight rosacea on the area either side of my nose. clinique CC cream was useless for me. Currently just using a slightly heavier fiundation than would normally go for (Revlon Colourstay)...butit wears off half way through the day and the rosiness comes through. Hmmm.

claudeekishi · 11/01/2014 13:32

Don't use the clinique foundation, use its sheer green spf tint. comes in a green tube, you put it on under make up. It's sheer and will take the edge off the red glow! Then lily lo lo on top.
