Motherhood has ruined my hands, help!

They are so dry, red raw and the skin is cracked in between the fingers. I think it's the more frequent hand washing after changing Ds (11 months), cleaning him/his high chair after meals and other cleaning, although I wear rubber gloves as much as I can!

Anyone have any good hand wash / cream recommendations? My Keihls hand cream stings because my hands are so raw :-/

I had exactly this problem when DS was a baby.

My GP prescribed a huge bottle of Cetraben which was a brilliant moisturiser (you can buy it OTC, but prescriptions are free if you have a child under 1, are they not?).

I layer a cream with urea and then l'Occitane Shea Butter. I am also terrible about putting it on (except at night) as hate having greasy hands. The non-greasy ones just don't seem to work as well Sad.

Neutrogena great.
Gloves in a Bottle. Not a handcream as such. Acts as a barrier and stops hands drying out more.
Body shop also do hemp oil. Great!

Sympathy - mine were so bad, they split at the nail and got infected.
I use aquaeous cream to wash and CCS foot cream Hands are so much better.

Sorry, or this is very good too.

My hands are much better this year.
I have been religiously using L'Occitaine Shea butter cream, body shop Shea butter bar of soap and ecover washing up liquid instead of Fairy.

I didn't find the 8 Hour handcream that great, but I am considering putting some of the original 8 Hour Cream on the worst bits of mine as I do find that really good, and healing for any sore bits (it is very gloopy though, so would only use that on the worst patches and other handcream on the rest).

I agree Crabtree & Evelyn gardeners' one is very good, I think the other one they do (spa?) is also very similar but with a different scent.

I also second wearing gloves whenever you're out in the cold, makes a big difference!

I had the same problem. I swapped the handsoap in my house to Pears handwash in a pump container (soap free) and use E45 before bed and they are a lot better. Try and use rubber gloves for not only washing up but also for using any other cleaning product around the house (bathroom and window cleaning etc)
