Seeking inspiration and trying to escape the jeans+jumper uniform. Links to flat navy leather ankle boots and bags especially welcome.

bunnymother · 10/01/2014 09:48

Black and cream feint checked Mango top
Uniqlo cream Heattech l sleeve top
Uniqlo indigo skinnies (that aren't that skinny anymore)
Burgundy ankle boots from M&S

RalphGnu · 10/01/2014 09:51

Currently wearing seven year old grey nightie and pink fleece pyjama bottoms.

Later on I shall be wearing something dragged from a drawer that doesn't look like it needs ironing. Probably black, teamed with black leggings, probably from Matalan.
I do have the most fabulous, glittery flat boots though, so I shall just stare at my feet and pretend I am glamorous.

enormouse · 10/01/2014 09:53

Primark pjs with fairisle reindeer pattern
Dps t shirt (free with promotional bottles of bushmills whisky. Says 'irish at its best'- it's very classy)
One of dps fleece hoodies - no idea where it's from

I'm 38 weeks pg and enormous and can't dress myself right now either (sciatica). I'm also not planning on going out today - have an essay to finish.

impty · 10/01/2014 09:54

MiH skinny jeans
Ralph Lauren black metallic cable jumper
Biker boots

So not much help!

I sometimes get changed in the evening though.... not in a Downton Abbey way, or a step ford wife get changed for dh coming home from work way... more of a fuck it, I have nice/ smart clothes and I'm bloody well going to wear them, even if it is just for supper and tv watching! Grin

LadyIsabellasHollyWreath · 10/01/2014 10:12

I'm typing from the bath (not just laziness, have been supervising DD making pancakes for last hour and couldn't go upstairs for fear of her burning down house) but you have inspired me to hit TK MAXX or the sales else tomorrow during her ballet lessons in search of jumper dresses and brown/not black knee boots. I have a huge work wardrobe but it's very formal so hardly any of it works for days off. Has anyone found any really bargainacious knee boots?
I went to the Jigsaw "sale" yesterday and they had some nice schmutter but the discounts were still tiny - I need to go back daily until the prices come down to something more impulse-friendly.

Anyway, I suspect I'll end up with my lovely Salsa jeans and a GAP jumper and biker boots.....again. I might dig out my old suede calf length skirts and see whether I can make them work with any of my boots. What possessed me to buy items of winter clothing that you can't wear in the rain?

HopeClearwater · 10/01/2014 10:16

String bag of sausages checking in here: Next blue slim leg jeans, black merino polo neck, ancient chunky blue Fat Face cardigan. In my defence, I am dressing for the cold.

jimjamspam · 10/01/2014 10:17

I personally think jeans & jumpers work well as a SAHM just:
*make sure jeans are fresh and ironed
*nice well fitting jumpers
*wear make up
*neat short nails with some sort of varnish
*good accessories - ie leather handbag rather than changing bag
*decent coat and boots/shoes

Starballbunny · 10/01/2014 10:19

Nothing, contemplating going for a shower.

Starballbunny · 10/01/2014 10:28

Oh dear I fail jimjams test
*make sure jeans are fresh and ironed
*nice well fitting jumpers since I assume she means expensive cashmere, wool, to which I'm a allergic not acrylic next or long sleeved tees from Sainsbury's
*wear make up
*neat short nails with some sort of varnish
*good accessories - ie leather handbag rather than changing bag
*decent coatand boots/shoes

Do have a nice JL handbag and generally leather boots (ok flat and Mumsy, but decent) I feel scruffy in trainers (except posh converse in spring/autumn. I can't wear women's shoes and I'm sure my summer flat sandals would offend Grin

dexter73 · 10/01/2014 10:33

jimjam - your list is a bit like something Bridget Jones's mum would write Wink!!

Starballbunny · 10/01/2014 10:34

Sorry try again

Advice on decent coat very welcome, have horrible, according to DDs chavy, Sainsbury's one. Needs to be showerproof and suitable for driving in.

MegBusset · 10/01/2014 10:37

I usually wear jeans to work as I tend to get muddy stomping through fields (v rural work) so dress up on my days off!

Today I'm off work and wearing a Boden skirt, H&M T-shirt and White Stuff zip-up hoodie.

LittleMissRedSparklyBaubles · 10/01/2014 10:40

"Working" from home day.
Wearing relaxed skinny jeans (Next - look good and are v comfy)
black vest top.
Pink fluffy jumper with white heart on it.
Red fluffy christmassy bedsocks.
DS' red slanket around my shoulders as have been sitting at computer too long and am getting chilly.

Definitely dressing for warmth and comfort Smile

I work from home quite a lot, and have been trying to get out of the jeans habit too. Have been wearing cord skirts and jumper dresses a lot more. Sounds daft, but makes me feel more organised and in control of work and the house if I make a bit of effort to dress nicer, even if I am not going out anywhere.

MrsSJG · 10/01/2014 11:37

skinny navy jeans
navy long sleeved top
burgundy hooded top

MarshaBrady · 10/01/2014 11:40

dexter73 · 10/01/2014 12:16

“Sweatpants are a sign of defeat. You lost control of your life so you bought some sweatpants.”

PinkandPoo · 10/01/2014 12:29
