Does drinking lots of water make your skin worse before it gets better?

My new year resolution is to drink 2l of water a day in the hope of brighter skin & more energy. I had a couple of chin spots over Christmas which ate still lingering but now am having a completely horrible breakout with about 8-10 around my mouth, chin and neck Hmm I never normally have breakouts this bad... Could it be linked to starting with all this water? It feels so horrible!

Very very unlikely, I'd say.

I would think so - flushing out all the toxins first aren't you?

DrNick · 09/01/2014 22:03

it makes no bloody difference

look at the research

For me, drinking water does improve my skin. I think it's probably more to do with me generally not drinking enough unless I'm making a conscious effort but regardless, I have seen numerous times that it helps.

The water in itself doesn't cause spots but have you changed your diet at all? I quite often find dietary changes (even good ones) can cause my skin to go spotty for a week or so before it rebalances and levels out.

SandyDilbert · 09/01/2014 22:07

first of all your link is crappy daily fail, secondly it mentions wrinkles not spots.

Wenchelda · 09/01/2014 22:12

Haven't changed my diet - though I need to! Lacking the willpower for that at the moment though.

I'm yet to see any difference/improvement since starting with the water too but hoping I will soon.

the science behind wrinkles adn spots and the effect of water on them being so RADICALLY different?

excess water is pissed out.
there is not magical flushing of "toxins"

If you don't suffer with hormonal spots op, could it just be change of diet, late nights with makeup left on, or lack of fresh air and exercise, all over Christmas and New Year?
