Facial cleansing brushes . . . can I ask some questions please?

Which cleanser do you use?

Do you double cleanse? Remove make-up and then cleanse with the brush?

If you find a big difference in condition of your skin, did your skin get any worse before it improved like with OCM?

Thank you Smile

  1. ATM i switch between three - clarins sensitive cream cleanser, Elemis hydrating gel and kheils deep earth pore refining cleanser

  2. yes to remove make-up i use a balm cleanser or an oil and remove with a flannel, then every other evening i use the Clarisionic. Double cleanse most days when I'm wearing a full face of make-up.

Im not sure what OCM is, buttt... yes i have noticed a big difference, i no longer have flakey dry patches, my skin is still dry but less dry and more exfoliated. my blackheads have improved and pores.

I did have a bit of a purging phase (i know Caroline Herons disagrees with that) but only lasted around 1 week.

I have been using the no 7 face brush since Christmas and just noticed I seem to have lots of clogged pores. I hope it's purging!

LinghamStyle · 09/01/2014 21:27

Thank you both.

I really want the Clarisonic but I can't really justify the cost without having tried the method first. I was thinking of getting the No7 or the Olay one first and if that goes well I'll buy the Clarisonic.

I don't wear make-up everyday but I usually double cleanse with balm or hot cloth cleanser.

OCM = Oil Cleansing Method. I had purging for about 2 weeks when doing this and wondered if I'd get the same with a brush.

I use oil to cleanse, not an everyday multi-use oil though, i use Una Brennan & i had no purging, so probably couldn't compare.

But it really is so worth it, i would 100% re-purchase, although i would pay more money & go for the Mia2 and find one with the charging holder rather than the normal one. Hopefully you'll get what i mean...

I use a Clarisonic Mia2. It has transformed my skin - it's so much clearer, and make up goes on so much more evenly. It also gets less greasy through the day. I didn't have a getting worse before it gets better phase either.

I don't double cleanse, just take off my eye makeup (with Vaseline), and use Soap & Glory's Peaches & Clean with my Mia2. Since starting to use the Mia2 I can also use a night cream - previously this would have given me spots.

louwn · 10/01/2014 07:13

I use a manual cleansing brush rather than an electronic one (soap and glory) and have been double cleansing at night (usually soap and glory peaches and clean followed by la roche posay effaclar cleanser) or about a week now. Already my skin looks fresher! Have also added in a night oil for oily skin (clarins lotus oil) and eye cream twice a day. Think I need to give these a little longer before I evaluate their effects though.

If you're going to get a Clarisonic, have a look at the Space NK website. They have some of the most expensive Clarisonics discounted.

YoMamma · 10/01/2014 22:03

I treated myself to a clarisonic mia2 and Eve Lom cleanser when pregnancy hormones ruined my face. It cleared my skin up within a couple of weeks. I don't double cleanse. I asked about this when buying in Space NK and was told that provided you give your brush a good rinse afterwards there was no need. I usually use the clarisonic every other day and have the sensitive brush. I would really recommend.

LinghamStyle · 12/01/2014 18:27

Thank you for the tip Housewife.

YoMamma My worry was that I'd be pushing dirt and make-up into the.pores.

Boots have a Champneys brush (clarisonic knock off, I think) half price @ £20 at the moment.

EmGee · 12/01/2014 19:18

Or the Philips VisaPure is a cheaper (and more gentle?) alternative. I use it with the sensitive brush a couple of times a week and it is great. AND I am really lazy at cleansing the rest of the time

Eastpoint · 12/01/2014 19:21

I bought myself a Clarisonic Plus for Christmas, I really like how it makes the skin on the back of my legs feel, much silkier. I almost wish I had started using it on only one side of my face so I could have a control, it really makes my skin feel softer.

suntodayplease · 12/01/2014 19:47

I'm undecided about buying a clarisonic, can anyone explain the difference between the mia2 and the plus? And is it ok to use with Eve Lom? I've read mixed reviews some say you can and others say not to.
Thanks

Eastpoint · 12/01/2014 21:50

The plus comes with & can be used with a body brush. I think that's the main difference. When you are using it on your face it runs for 20 seconds, then stops briefly then another 20 seconds then two ten second bursts. The idea is you do your forehead, t-zone & chin in the 2 20 second bursts then each cheek gets 10 seconds. I think it runs for 3 minutes with the body brush, you don't have to change anything.

I like Solo mio facial brushes, use it every morning. I bought this one six months ago. But for a variety I want another one, maybe okachi gliya, I don't know for sure. It would also be interesting to find out what you would recommend here Grin
