What's the best toothpaste for whitening your teeth?

I'm hoping this is the right section to post this in...

I get bad staining on my teeth and most toothpastes, even whitening ones, don't seem to make any difference.

I did find one Colgate whitening one that worked pretty well - but, when I went to buy some more, I realised that Colgate actually sell about 6 different types of whitening toothpaste and I couldn't remember the exact the name of the good one I'd bought previously. (I bought one of them but, sadly, it clearly wasn't the same one, as it made no impact on the staining whatsoever.)

Has anyone got any recommendations? Should I try smokers' toothpaste - even though I don't smoke?

So is it illegal to buy crest white strips on amazon?

I use a whitening mouthwash, I think it's a Colgate one...it definitely makes a difference. Not a huge difference but a definite improvement.

it is not illegal to buy, it is illegal to sell, I think they will technically be sold from USA although drop shipped from where ever,
a bit like the stuff about francoise hollande's affair technically illegal to publish about his private life in france but not illegal for a french citizen to read it in the sun newspaper website

I've been using activated charcoal for about a week and it's made a massive difference. Holland & Barrett sell it, about £5 for 100 capsules. I brush once a day with it (crack a capsule open and sprinkle it onto brush, then brush normally with toothpaste afterwards) and just brush with toothpaste the other time.

My teeth definitely look whiter already. I've had professional teeth whitening before, could have saved myself £100!

I have found an amazing bleaching product which I’m sure doesn’t contain any EU illegal ingredients. The brand name is Stella white. I tried their strips last month when I stumbled on it at Groupon and It did wonders on my teeth :)

I've found that Arm and Hammer (maybe a bit alarming in the context of teeth) to be good, with baking soda in it.

Clinomyn (?) Smoker's toothpaste works for me as does Eucryl toothpowder but they aren't to be used all the time as they are quite gritty and wear away your enamel as well as lifting stains if used too often. My dentist told me to cut back on using them as I noticed a bit of a dent in my front tooth that was quite sensitive but said if used in moderation they're not too bad as I'm a smoker so do get some staining if I don't keep on top of it! Also an electric toothbrush helps, I find when I go away and don't take mine my teeth are yellower when I come back!
