Smart waterproof coat for cycling to work?

Does such a thing exist?
I cycle to work and need something that is waterproof and breathable enough for the 15-20 min ride, but also won't look out of place when I am out at lunch/meetings during the day. Doesn't need to be super smart, but smart enough to look OK with black trousers or dresses. Any suggestions much appreciated!

Yes! I have cracked this problem after years with exactly the issue you describe, ie not wanting to turn up in a meeting in bright orange bike jacket.

You need this website: www.wateroffaducksback.co.uk/

Click on the ladieswear section - I have the Cassandra but here are other styles. Can confirm that the coat is stylish, fully waterproof and very good fit for when on the bike (does not ride up). Also has hidden reflector strips along the belt and cuffs which are hidden by turning up the material by day and then flip over at night.

Really do rate the coat waited till Evans Cycles had a 25% discount offer and then ordered mine via them. NB some online advice I saw recommended picking a small size and I would agree I have extra small and it is good fit, whereas I would be a 10-12 in 'normal' clothing ranges.

Wow, thank you so much ancientandmodern, the Cassandra look perfect, and the detachable hood should also be very useful.
Another problem solved by Mumsnet Smile

I was going to ask the same question, having cycled to the station this morning in a downpour in a coat I wrongly assumed was waterproof - I was soaked to the skin, and didn't dry out until lunchtime. These coats look great, thank you for the recommendation.

Delighted to be of help to fellow cyclists!

To complete my look, I favour lightweight waterproof trousers (Cassandra coat keeps most of rain off, but on longer journeys these are useful and can be slipped off and shoved in bag)

Also have discovered Fast Rider pannier is ok for taking into office meetings. The one I have seems to be discontinued. It looked like this: lovelybike.blogspot.co.uk/2010/07/deluxe-shopper-bicycle-pannier-from.html

but I see Amazon has another from the same range (the only review suggests quality issues, but my earlier version has been fine): www.amazon.co.uk/Fastrider-Charley-Shopper-Bag-Litres/dp/B0054GA39I/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1389114700&sr=8-2&keywords=fastrider+pannier

Just seen Cassandra coat is reduced price on Evans cycles website:

Fab coats thanks for recommendation :)

Nice panniers! I was riding around with my handbag in my bike basket until an opportunist thief grabbed it a few weeks ago while I was unlocking my door. DH bought me a rucksack for Christmas, but I fancy something a bit more girly Smile

You get a code for an extra five quid off if you sign up for the Evans online newsletter too, via their site. They only have the coat in navy though.

Wow what a nice coat. Am sorely tempted...

Hi
A mac /trench coat would work well as they tend to be showerproof.. A dark colour so doesn't show mud/rain from cycle ride. Gap & banana republic and even next/m&s do good inexpensive versions.
