Massive sodding spots

HELP! I keep getting huge spots on my chin. Huge, painful, can't-squeeze-because-nothing-happens-except-pain type spots. Am thinking they are probably linked to sugar/hormones, but how on earth do I get rid of them? My chin looks deformed due to one I have at the moment :(

Thanks for starting this thread OP. mine have just flared up again. I can't believe it, I have about 7 or 8 big spots at the same time as I am getting white hairs and wrinkles. I'm 41, ffs.

Can I ask what treatment the GP would give you? I get cystic acne every month at TOTM.

There are lots of different treatments available from the GP, depending on the severity of the acne.
IMO cystic acne needs to be treated quite 'aggressively', for the fact that it causes scarring, i.e. long-term problems consequences.

It totally depends what treatment your GP offers, but it probably starts with topical treatment, topical antibiotic+/-a 'peeler' like benzyol peroxide, salicylic acid etc. then maybe oral antibiotics, the Pill, sometimes spironlactone and there are a few others. Last step on the treatment ladder is Roaccutane, which is dermatologist-only prescribed.

If you have cystic acne I think start with a treatment from your GP but ask for a referral to a dermatologist at the this stage too. By the time your derm appointment comes around, you will probably have climbed the treatment ladder, and if all is well you can cancel the derm appt.

MikeL you would probably be better off using the Duac all the time. It is a preventative treatment, and works very well this way.

Apols the long post.

Re-reading the post (you'd think I'd have learned to proof read by now, but no), it depends on the severity of your acne, as to what treatment your GP will offer.

Thanks. Mine isn't very severe but it's painful and like you say can cause scarring, which obviously I'd like to avoid.
