Invincible 'tache

One of my new year's resolutions is to get rid of my 'tache. What's the best way to do it? I've tried Veet, the last time I did it, it just seemed to burn my skin, it was rally sore and chapped afterwards. I do pluck, but that hurts. I don't like anything that involves too much pain, so not sure I could do waxing. I'm happy to spend money on it if it would be effective, I've thought about laser, but read mixed reviews, both about the pain and the effectiveness.

I have it waxed. yes it does hurt but the pain is momentary and then gone so it really isn't that bad.

Mine goes through phases of growing Hmm I book appointments every 4 weeks and sometimes it is really bad after 2 weeks so I end up plucking the worse offenders, then other times it has barely grown and not worth waxing.

I don't understand!! Confused

Wax.
I use hot wax the cold strips don't work for me.
You're meant to wax against the hair growth (I do my armpits in two swipes as the hair grows different directions) but with the 'tasche I do one.
Pull your lip tight, dust on talc (lightly) and be brave.

And don't wax your armpits 10 minutes before you walk to school to collect your DC and think "Oh while I've got the wax out I'll do my 'tasche....."

The red lip was not a good look Blush

I use the epilator, but struggle with the pain factor directly under my nose so bleach that.

Whatever you do, don't go down the threading route. Such pain in public - this sort of hair removal is strictly for private.

Laser? If it very dark hair & you have pale skin. I have gone down the threading route. The first time it was a bit unpleasant, but thereafter has been fine.

IDugUpADiamond · 05/01/2014 22:47

I'm a total wimp and I wax and find it very bearable, but the area I wax ends up very spotty. Why?

JetJungle · 05/01/2014 22:52

Epistick: 99p from Ebay

VenusDeWillendorf · 06/01/2014 00:42

Threading, at home with some sewing thread. Done in a few mins and all the little hairs gone.

netty36 · 06/01/2014 03:53

The epicare stick from Amazon is just fantastic. I tried threading and apart from the fact it was like torture, it brought me out in a massive rash. You can look at epicare on You Tube, that is really worthwhile as it gives you an idea of how it works and what to expect. This has been the best thing I have bought in ages, really works and I can do it myself.

thegraduand · 06/01/2014 22:06

Thank you, now googline epicure. Thanks for the advice on threading, had always wondered about that, but it is right in the middle, in the open in the local shopping centre

I think threading is the way to go. Try to find a salon that does it or if you have to go to those shopping centre ones, find a quiet time :) Get it done every three weeks and it hurts less and less. It's quick too!

twoboots · 07/01/2014 10:35

I am Asian, tache obsessed and I wish I never started waxing. First had it done aged 12 after using immac and burning my skin. I'm much darker than Mum who I wish hadn't encouraged this. I probably get it waxed every 2-3 weeks, usually after looking at a photo or my dreaded magnifying mirror or a Skype convo with mum. After 20 years its a bit finer, but then I wouldn't let it grow to see. My beauticians, friends and DP all say that it's hardly noticeable.

BitchyFestiveFace · 07/01/2014 11:07

I got a spring thing recommended on here (might be the epistick referred to above?), was v cheap and is brilliant now that I've worked out how to use it

I feel about it similarly to how I feel about the Mooncup. Something so simple, so cheap, so reusable and 1000 times better than all of the more expensive / better-known alternatives.

WipsGlitter · 07/01/2014 13:47

Wax. I've waxed mine since I was 15!! Firstly in a salon but now it's pretty fine so I just do it myself occasionally.

Do NOT bleach, just goes ginger!!

IDugUpADiamond · 07/01/2014 14:16

WipsGlitter what wax do you use and do you get spots in the area afterwards?

fuzzywuzzy · 07/01/2014 14:21

threading too, I do it myself, it gets all the hairs and is done in seconds.

I find waxing too harsh, when I did it it didn't get all the little hairs and I noticed it made the corners of my mouth wrinkly for a bit.

ManicMinor · 07/01/2014 14:30

I trim mine with cuticle scissors Shock - the blades can get close enough to the skin to cut almost all of the hair, and my fear that the cutting would make the hairs more noticeable turned out to be false. I've tried depilating, but was worried about what it was doing long term to my skin, and I don't have ready access to waxing or threading services.

bonzo77 · 07/01/2014 14:46

i wax mine with veet strips. In between waxings I sometimes bleach it if the hairs are short but visible. Prefer to wax though as much faster and I only stay red for half an hour or so, sometimes not at all.

blibblibs · 07/01/2014 16:26

I think I must be doing something wrong with the epistick thing. I got it after another thread on here and I just cannot use it - the pain is unbearable Sad and I'm usually quite 'ard!

I use veet as I have a very hairy jawline too, and it works fine but its not doing my skin any good

Chuckthefucklebrothers · 07/01/2014 17:04

Ooh, another 'tash thread!
I would recommend electrolysis if you have the time & patience (it's not as expensive as you might think).
I have ordered an epistick - will report back! Grin
