What am I doing wrong with my BBH???

I've had it for two years. Used it 4/5 times, not the results I was hoping for! So, inspired by the recent "I got a BBH for Christmas/in the sales" threads, I decided to dig it out from underneath the bed, blow the dust of it and give it another go.....but still no sleek, bouncy hair......more of a tangled mess! WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?!

Try looking at you tube for tips.

I wait til my hair is 80-90% dry before using it.

WipsGlitter · 05/01/2014 19:55

Are you trying to dry your hair with it? I dry mine witha hair drier and then use the BBH. I section my hair by pulling a topknot then do the under it, then let some out of the knot and do that bit and then let the top layer out.

I just got mine at Christmas so only used twice but happy with results.

I left hair to almost dry, sectioned off and dried in pretty small sections. I started at bottom and just followed instructions really but was careful not to rotate until close to ends as I suspect that would have caused me frizz (susceptible to it!)

I still think it could look better though and I guess that takes practice. When I started using GHDs to do waves that took me a good few weeks to really master.

Yep, drying hair to about 80/90% dry, sectioning, and combing through each section.....but then it just seems to drag random bits of other sections in with it! I'll definitely check YouTube though, see if there's anything obvious I'm not doing! Thanks for your answers so far...... :)

Sounds like your sections are too big. Clip the rest of your hair away from the brush. says from experience

Hopasholic · 05/01/2014 20:05

How long is your hair? I try and make sure the roots are completely dry before hand then I don't have to go too close to my head with it. I prefer it on no2 setting as 3 goes too fast.

TwoNoisyBoys · 05/01/2014 20:07

:D Yes, that's possibly true! I'll get some more sectioning clips and try that. Glad it's not just me! :)

I suppose if I studied it before going all out with it that might help....I didn't even realise there WAS different speeds....I thought it was different heats. Well. That might explain things, mightn't it! Found the slower speed MUCH easier, thank you! Need to invest in a good heat spray now though......gets bloody hot doesn't it?! :D

Ha! At least you've not had if for years

hillyhilly · 05/01/2014 20:38

The drier the better I've discovered. Also when I'm finishing a section I pull the bbh down the length of the hair so it doesn't end up curled

Curioustiger · 05/01/2014 21:02

I am incredibly lazy and so I rough dry my hair then turn my head upside down and BBH from root to tip, making a but if effort to try and get good coverage. I am sure sectioning it works better but my way actually does look better than hair drying alone so worth a try!

TwoNoisyBoys · 05/01/2014 21:24

Curioustiger, me too! I bought it because I'm so lazy, and I thought it would be a miracle worker :) (which apparently it is......with effort. Sigh!) But, I'm going to try your method too, got to be worth a go - thanks!
