Are there actually classes you can go it, to learn to blow dry your hair?

I get my hair blow dried once in a blue moon, but when I do, I really like it. The stylist doesn't do much, just uses a round brush and heat to give it a bit of a wave. Do I have to go to a salon every time I want this or is there actually somewhere I could learn how to do it?

Oh I would love this. I can blow dry and straighten my hair only on the left hand side of my head, the rest looks rubbish as I'm so right handed and can't twist my hand the way I seem to need to in order for it to look even Confused

stardusty5 · 05/01/2014 17:34

I would love this too! And other things like how to do a nice bun without looking like Miss Trunchbull. And how to do liquid eyeliner without looking like i did it with my toes :-(

I'd sign up if there is. I spend a small fortune on blow-dry's. No matter what I try it never looks anything like a professional job.

I have a parlux, used posh shampoo's, loads of products, nothing has made a difference. Am bloody fed up with it as it happens Sad

EirikurNoromaour · 05/01/2014 17:36

Have you tried YouTube?

breatheslowly · 05/01/2014 17:37

I want a class to teach me how to French plait DD's hair.

Antidote · 05/01/2014 17:39

My lovely hairdresser taught me to do my own. Said he was sick of watching me walk past the salon on the way to work with his haircut looking a mess!

It took ages to start with, but now I'm pretty quick and it looks 80% as good as a salon one.

MrsBucketxx · 05/01/2014 17:40

You tube will help. Although I have never masteted straitener curls even after wayching again and again.

RobinSparkles · 05/01/2014 17:44

There are plenty of tutorials on YouTube, I think.

I'm the opposite. I can't stand how hairdressers blow dry my hair. I'd rather they didn't do it and I go home and do it myself. They always seem to focus on straightening it and curling it under and they leave it flat on top Hmm. My hair is already poker straight and I want body and bounce to it!

emsyj · 05/01/2014 17:55

I did a 10 week hair styling course in the evenings but we had to take a model to do. I took my DSis and I can blowdry her hair straight, curly, pin it up, curl it - you name it. A curly blow on her looks amazing. But can I do my own hair? Not a chance Sad.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 05/01/2014 18:06

My salon does blow dry classes and easy hair ups. Haven't been yet but I need it !

Curioustiger · 05/01/2014 21:05

I thought aveda salons give classes? Although... I don't think you'll ever be quite as good as the salon as its do much easier to work on someone else!

AnUnearthlyChild · 05/01/2014 21:08

breathe I can teach you a French plait. But I can only do them if I close my eyes. I learned to do them on my own hair, and it confuses me if I can see what I'm doing.

singaporeswing · 06/01/2014 07:17

Second Youtube. Or even quicker, heated rollers.

I whack them in, do the rest of my make up and have instant sleek, Middleton-esque hair!

HarrietVaneAgain · 06/01/2014 07:26

Babyliss big hair or similar is fairly foolproof. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/1947969-babyliss-big-hair-omfg

stinkingbishop · 06/01/2014 07:29

Business idea?!

I guess you could just ask your hairdresser...

MinesAPintOfTea · 06/01/2014 08:20

My hairdresser explains how I can store my hair like she does it (and does it differently each time). Just tell yours, I'm sure she'll be happy to talk you through it and sell you expensive products on commission

BeanoNoir · 06/01/2014 08:26

Which heated rollers do you use please?

madmomma · 06/01/2014 08:34

watching for rollers recommendations

singaporeswing · 06/01/2014 12:19

I use Enrapture heated rollers. There's 20 rollers of different sizes, the heat up in 1 min, takes me about 10 mins to put in place (I have long, thick hair) and just leave to cool down.

Theknacktoflying · 06/01/2014 12:22

I second the Babyliss Big hair - it's fab.

alp · 06/01/2014 13:28

Do you put the rollers in dry hair?

I am remarkably thick at this sort of thing.

procrastinatingagain · 06/01/2014 13:30

I'll third the BBH, just got one and it's been a revelation

Pigsinablanket · 06/01/2014 13:53

Babyliss big hair is amazing. I can dry my hair myself for the first time in nearly 40 years!!

Dillydollydaydream · 06/01/2014 13:57

Yep BBH. it's a hairdryer and round brush in one. Although you can't dry from very wet, I let mine air dry while I sort my face out.

calamityjane · 06/01/2014 14:09

For the BBH do you need long hair? Mine's not that long (top of the shoulders) I would love hair that looked like I had been to the salon everyday (wishful emotion)
