Dying eyebrows at home

Greentoothbrush · 05/01/2014 00:52

I regularly get my brows threaded and dyed, but it's beginning to cost a bomb. I'm thinking about getting the threading done, and dying them at home. They aren't the same colour naturally, all along and look half the length as they are blonde, so getting them done a mid brown to match my hair looks a lot better and frames my face I feel.
Does anyone else do this, or have any reviews/suggestions please?
I hate putting them in with make up, so that's out...

It is impossible to buy dye that is not jet black and that includes the one labelled dark brown. If you want a more natural colour you won't be able to do them yourself. It is annoying that dark blonde or light brown dyes are not available.

nipersvest · 05/01/2014 01:07

i do mine at home, with this brown dye. I use the brown on my eyebrows and the blue/black on my lashes.

mix the dye, swipe it on with a mascara wand, then wipe it straight off. repeat to build up the colour gradually to avoid it looking fake.

In my experience dying at home is a million times better. I've had them done by pros but they are always too dark.

Doing them yourself controls the colour, and Rosh, there are a ton of brown dyes out there!! I buy mine from Boots...it lasts a year at least and is amazing!!

peasandlove · 05/01/2014 08:07

I have done mine at home for years using Eylure tint, it's fast and easy

duskymoon · 05/01/2014 08:18

Me too - im blonde and been dying my eyebrows for ages. I use the coloursport one from Boots though don't like the new bottles (2 stage process) so am going to switch back to eyelure -though I also like the look of the one linked earlier. I spend £8 every 6- 8 months.

VideoEtTaceo · 05/01/2014 13:42

I am also blonde - I use the eye lure dark brown. It's very easy and they aren't too dark at all. They do fade reasonably fast, but I found this when having them done professionally too.

Thants · 05/01/2014 14:24

The brown eyelure tint is good. I dye mine every few weeks. My hair is light brown/dark blonde. Without dying my brows they are invisible!

lurkingaround · 05/01/2014 14:58

I do it, I'm also very fair of eyebrow and I use the Eyelure brown tint. So easy. I think getting them done at a salon is a rip off. It fades quite quickly whether you get it done professionally or not. Costs almost nothing to do at home and IME you can't go wrong with it.

Best1sWest · 05/01/2014 16:15

Dd did mine at home last week and they look fantastic. Will be doing them myself from now on.

DrNick · 05/01/2014 18:32

Where do you get the eyelure tint from?

Corygal · 05/01/2014 19:01

I always do mine at home, I prefer the colour. Eyelure kits always on sale in Superdrug or Boots, or Amazon.

MrsYoungSalvoMontalbano · 05/01/2014 19:06

As others have said, I get a more natural colour doing at home. buy the 'dark brown' (eyelure?) from superdrug/asda etc. put lots of cream to mask area around, and the splurge on. Good result, very cheap.

lurkingaround · 05/01/2014 19:39

I get mine from Boots, tho before Xmas it wasn't in stock. Saw it last week, didn't buy. Prob should have.

princessalbert · 05/01/2014 23:03

I have used this onedye kitfor a number of years.

I put it on my lashes, then a swipe across my eye brows. I wipe off the eyebrows after only a couple of minutes. My eyebrows are a light brown, but my hair is darker brown.

I have recently been to the beauty salon for brow and lash tint - and to be honest - didn't find it looked any better, or lasted any longer than the home dye job.

It still stings if it goes in my eyes Grin

princessalbert · 05/01/2014 23:05

I see I linked to dark brown, I actually use black.

Greentoothbrush · 06/01/2014 03:18

Thanks so much for sharing your experiences, I'm going to do it!

Good for you :) I use the Eylure dye, dark brown, on my dark brows with loads of horrid, coarse greys. I scrub it on with an eyeshadow brush and leave it for about 40 mins - as the greys are resistant. I'm telling you this to reassure you! I pootle round the house with two thick spats of dark brown dye on my forehead, wash it off with soap and have lovely brows (for about an hour, before a new fucking grey comes through!!)

It doesn't dye your skin, see.

sugar4eva · 06/01/2014 07:31

You can buy dye via e bay . I have hair with red in and do mine reddish brown . The web site mine from had dark blonde, mid brown, auburn etc . Fab !
