As the subject says really, I don't have a huge budget, and they will be used for myself, for everyday use, but there's nothing worse than shedding brushes. Names don't matter to me, I just want to start learning how to apply make up properly and with more precision.
Thanks.

Clarabumps · 05/01/2014 00:50

Sorry for typos.stupid phone. They also do a few different packs for face etc. It depends what you want them for.

ZacharyQuack · 05/01/2014 00:50

Real Techniques. Take a look at their website, they have lots of easy tutorial videos.

Lairyfights · 05/01/2014 00:54

Eco Tools do a really good beginners set for a reasonable price! Good quality too.

An eye set: m.boots.com/mt/www.boots.com/en/EcoTools-Bamboo-6-Piece-Eye-Brush-Set_1211196/

A face set: m.boots.com/mt/www.boots.com/en/EcoTools-Bamboo-5-Piece-Brush-Set_1211194/

There are also a few more on that site for makeup sets, but I can't comment on their quality because I've never used them!

Greentoothbrush · 05/01/2014 00:55

Thanks I'll check those out!
I would like them for foundation, contouring, eyes, lining, abit of brows but not overly for them as I like to get them dyed, and being fair I feel over done with filling them in.

I don't know what they're like now but I've got some really ancient BodyShop ones that are still going strong.

M&S Autograph ones which I really love

I bought DD a set of Barbara Daly brushes that she says are good (BD used to do the make-up with Body Shop years ago)

I have a Superdrug lipbrush that moults Hmm
And I bought a Boots lipbrush today so not used it yet.

You might find a set that has a load of brushes you wouldn't use though.

I'd say a few eyeshadow brushes are needed
A blusher brush
Powder
Foundation brush possibly (they tend to be synthetic so they don't absorb it all)
I can't find an eyeliner brush thin enough for me so I bought some good quality art brushes

Eyebrow brush is on the pencil
Eyelash comb (the best one I found is an old Mr Mascara one)
Eyelash curlers (BodyShop but I'm coveting Shu uemera)

Greentoothbrush · 05/01/2014 01:05

Thanks for those! I'll read up on them.
I have a pink sponge thing for foundation that was a steal from tk maxx, after seeing them raved about on YouTube!
I have a BD one for my eyeshadow, but it's abit used... My single brush for the last 6 years :/
Main thing is I want a tidy set, to match (I'm abit anal like that) a liner one, contouring, small blusher, angled, blender... Lips I tend to line with a natural coloured liner, and then use a slight browny/pink on top to match my highlights and because I like dramatic eyes, I don't go too mad there.

Another one for Real Techniques... Fab brushes!

SELondonSwede · 05/01/2014 15:15

Real Techinque are amazing

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/01/2014 15:18

If I was sticking with one brand, on a budget...definitely real techniques

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/01/2014 15:18

I bought dd1 an Eco set for Christmas - they seem really lovely.

ParenthoodJourney · 05/01/2014 15:21

Real techniques in boots also have a buy one set get one half price offer Last time I went in.. They also do online tutorials

QuinnFabray · 05/01/2014 15:55

Both Ecotools and Real Techniques are very good.

TallulahBetty · 05/01/2014 16:19

Has anyone tried Lydia brushes from Amazon?

poppysqueak · 05/01/2014 16:25

Real Techniques - particularly the Stippling brush.
Best brushes I've ever bought.

AntoinetteCosway · 05/01/2014 16:30

Real Techniques.

mewkins · 05/01/2014 17:54

Yes real techniques- no moulting and good quality. I have the eye brush set (about £15 from amazon) and a blusher and powder brush. Use them every day.

foolssilver · 05/01/2014 19:52

Another vote for real techniques, I have the powder brush, stippling brush and expert fave brush which are excellent. I have ecotools too but these are miles better.

Not tried any of their eye brushes as I have two mac ones which suit my needs. Can't remember the numbers but they are a slanted one and a blending one.

AllOverIt · 05/01/2014 22:09

Mac 217 is the blending one. The best brush you'll ever have.

Theonlyoneiknow · 05/01/2014 23:48

Sorry to hijack can anyone recommend a not too expensive eyeliner brush for using with gel liner?

Whitershadeofpale · 05/01/2014 23:54

Real techniques are good as an allround set but please invest in a MAC 217, it's the best blending brush ever and it has totally changed how well applied my eye makeup is and allows me to be much more adventurous.

Aquelven · 06/01/2014 00:06

Theonlyoneiknow visit your nearest art supply shop. The best ever ranges of fine brushes for lining eyes, great quality, & far cheaper than a designated eyeliner brush.

goodasitgets · 06/01/2014 00:16

Whiter - I have that brush, what do you do with it?!

Whitershadeofpale · 06/01/2014 00:35

Mainly I use it to blend really really well. It seems to fit in my socket line just right so that it adds depth before I always found that the colour went too high and didn't stay just in the crease. I also find it really good for doing a soft wash of colour over the eyelid or blending colors really well when you want a soft smokey eye.

I would suggest looking here for ideas of what you can use it for. I have learnt so much from watching her videos.

goodasitgets · 06/01/2014 00:46

Thanks, I shall have a look! I used it ages ago but have just dug it out to try again
