Summer holiday booked, 6 months to banish cellulite. But how?

We are heading to the south of france this summer. My thighs are a haven for cellulite. Is there anything I can do to get rid of it? Or even improve the appearance? I'm hoping 6 months will be enough to do something constructive.
I can't face my dimpled thighs being exposed to the chic French masses...

Diet?

TheArticFunky · 04/01/2014 20:07

Watching with interest.

I didn't have any cellulite at all until my first pregnancy now I have it all over my legs not just my thighs .

ThePearShapedToad · 04/01/2014 20:09

Watching with interest. I had a goal to get rid of mine before my 30th this year, but everyone kept saying I had to do something called cardio??

marks place cellulite what the devil is that?

luvfizz · 04/01/2014 20:12

Simple, put less in your mouth and exercise (high cardio, squats and lunges).

It works.

123Jump · 04/01/2014 23:48

I'm not overweight, so would dieting help?
I'm taking up ballet again too, which should help with toning.
I thought you were supposed to massage the areas regularly (daily) with some sort of brush?! Not sure where I got that from. I am pretty sure creams would not work, so won't go there...
I don't do the gym. Every time I go near a gym I put my disc out again...Ouch!

It's hilarious that as soon as you mention you have cellulite you need to get rid of or you need to tone up, MN assume you're overweight. Grin Slim does not equal no cellulite!

OP, I hear eliminating added salt & particularly salty foods from your diet, helps. Body brushing does work, although you have to be consistent & make it apart of your routine forevermore.

Hopefully there will be more posters along to share their collective wisdom.

naturelover · 05/01/2014 08:51

Body brushing
Drink lots of water
Cut out coffee and alcohol
Moisturise/massage daily
Pilates/yoga/callanetics type exercise
The usual boring healthy diet and regular exercise...

I don't think you can entirely get rid of it though - it's normal for most women to have cellulite, slim or overweight.

Sleepwhenidie · 05/01/2014 08:54

I think exercise works because of the toxins you get rid of through sweat, slim or not it's certainly not going to harm your health (disc notwithstanding!) or appearance. I'd give up sugar, alcohol and caffeine and see what happens too (tough call I know - how badly do you want it Grin)

dreamingofsun · 05/01/2014 09:28

i've noticed mine's improved since i've got a dog and walk daily and do zumba once or twice a week - ie a lot of leg exercises. just need to sort my middle out now

sleepdodger · 05/01/2014 12:55

I am a 10-12 and always been heavy if cellulite around thigh
Yet post ds I was losing my baby weight and bravely looked in mirror one day to my astonishment see literally no cellulite!!!
This coincided with my bf so drinking gallons of water and no caffeine, only decaf, and also very very limited alcohol, also waking about 3 mile a day with heavy p&t buggy thanks to none sleeping ds
I was a size 8-10 with no cel, a miracle, but reader beware... The baby turns into a toddler, ft work gets in the way, exercise halts and it all returns with a vengence
I am currently a 10/12 with heavy thigh cel once more....

Thank you for all the responses. I know very slim people that have cellulite, so was a bit surprised at people thinking you have to be overweight to have cellulite.
However, I have t been drinking enough water, definitely. Will up that. I never add salt to my food, rarely in cooking. I don't drink tea or coffee.
Am going to invest in a brush and dedicate time in the shower each am.
And do more leg work!

You don't sweat out "toxins" and "toxins" don't cause cellulite.

I am a size 6 and have cellulite, definitely not limited to fat people

Ihatemytoes · 05/01/2014 16:41

Dry body brushing works for me.

macskater · 05/01/2014 16:46

Walk every day, four miles in an hour and include a couple of hills in your route.
Dont eat anything unhealthy or processed.
Cellulite might not disappear but you'll feel good

specialsubject · 05/01/2014 18:24

no method of removing cellulite has been shown to work, and many are of the opinion that it is beauty babble for 'normal skin texture'. it has no relation to weight.

if it really bothers you, wear board shorts rather than bikini bottoms.

exercise and healthy eating won't do any harm but don't expect any change in what no-one else probably notices anyway.

hettie · 05/01/2014 20:03

Ok, I'm fairly sure so I know it's not just about fat (I'm fairly slim nikos). I've had cellulite on my bum and thighs since I was a teen. I managed to get rid of most of it by day body brushing (check out the blog post on this on a model recommends website). It's dull (twice a day), but I did this for 8 weeks (and only this) and it does work.
