Non frilly, non revolting, not too pricey christening gowns?

My 8mo DTs (two girls) are being christened in a few weeks. All I can find are truly revoltingly loo roll cover style dresses.

Ideally I want sleeves as it will be winter and I don't want them to get too cold, although I have shawls to bundle them in. I absolutely adore the monsoon christening gown but there is no way I can justify £100 per dress on something they will only wear for one day. I've checked out bridesmaid and flower girl dresses but they're way too OTT.

I just want something plain, elegant and simple - it doesn't even need to be pure white, ivory or cream is fine - that I don't have to pay a fortune for! Any ideas?

Thanks all, I just ordered two of the Emile et Rose dresses (from different places as nowhere had more than one in each size!) and delighted to have them both for a total of £55!

One more thing - do they really need shoes? They can't walk yet...I have fluffy winter cream knitted boots for them but buying cream shoes would be pretty much a waste of money!

I'd say that bootees will be fine.

My dds didn't wear shoes - didn't even occur to me! Fine just in dress, cardigan and tights I think.

I saw this dress in mamas&papas and it is beautiful!
