Curl defining products - any recommendations?

I have fairly long but very thick, naturally curly hair. However it is VERY frizz prone and seems to expand madly when it dries. I am tempted to invest in a curling wand, but as I already have curly hair (and spend most of my life straightening it) I thought I would try some curl defining stuff. Any recommendations? I would love to be able to add some stuff to it and let it dry and it look amazing! Thanks

I use umburto gianni gel (in a pink tube) and boots curl creme mixed together
If your hair is dry, l'oreal ever pure conditioner in pink tube is the best I've found and Osmo hair mask (Sally's or amazon)
Also have a fab hairdresser who layers mine to within an inch of its life Grin

There's a. Ok called The Curly Girl Handbook (Amazon). There are also threads on it on Mumsnet - well one or two. Have a search ;)

I swear by Aveda Be Curly . It works well on my wavy hair . I've heard the pink boots curl cream is good too but not used it myself .

I find it helps to put products on soaking wet hair then wrap hair in towel for 10 minutes rather than applying products to towel dried hair . Mine takes about 10 hours to dry Shock but looks loads better than when I used to towel dry first.

I use Tresemme Natural conditioner as a leave-in and then add Boots Curl Creme on top. I cover my hair in coconut oil once a week and leave it for a couple of hours, then shampoo out - much softer than it used to be.

Lovely, thank you.

I did a quick google earlier and came across the boots curl cream. Some good reviews and an even better price! Will investigate some of your suggestions, thanks.

I am in a constant battle with my curly hair which has been ruined by two pregnancies!

I have used every product ever invented (slight exaggeration but you get the gist) and use kerastase oleo curl shampoo and conditioner, vo5 extra hold mousse and then I define each chunk of curl with Charles worthington leave-in conditioner (ie I twist each curl with the conditioner on my fingers). These are the 4 products I return to each time after being tempted by another product for curly hair.

Another one for umberto gianni gel and boots curl creme! I have tried everything but these are the best. I keep a stock of the curl creme now as they stopped stocking it for a while and my hair looked awful! I have also started using Ojon shampoo and conditioner (only occasionally as expensive) and it makes my hair look less frizzy.

Me too with the Umberto Gianni and Boots Curl Creme! Neither are expensive so well worth a try.

My tip with the curl creme is to rub it well between the palms of your hands first, until it goes white, then apply. I then put a bit of the Umberto Gianni gel on top, and scrunch.

I don't use any products with silicone or SLS.

Another vote for Umberto Gianni Curl Jelly and Boots Curl Creme!

My favourite was a curl cream by Trevor Sorbie which was discontinued many years ago Sad . The above aren't quite as good but they're the best I've found after trying most of the products out there. I never thought of mixing them together - will try that, goodasitgets.
