adding juices to your diet

I've never really used juices to increase my fruit and veg intake, but have heard of people having great results in their complexion and weight management.

Does anyone use these in their normal diet and do you have any suggestions?

I'm looking into buying a juicer / extractor but before I buy was wondering if there are any opinions on if its worth it.

thx

fruit juice only counts towards 1 of the 5 a day no matter how much you drink. There is a lot of sugar in fruit/veg too

TBH I think just eating the fruit itself is supposed to be better for you.

Like ilove says there is a lot of sugar in juice

thanks both. Yes i thought that as well in regard to the sugar levels.

I was looking at something like the vitamin which I think keeps the fibre etc as well.

I juice a lot and there is no more sugar in what I juice than the original fruit and veg. Shop bought juices can have sugar added to them but if you're juicing at home they won't.

I'm not great at eating green veg so tend to have a green juice in the morning, today is kale, pear and ginger. It makes sure I have 2 of my 5 a day before I'm even out of the house. There are lots of books out there on juicing but it's nice to make up your own combinations. Green apple, celery and lemon is another favorite and my kids love freshly squeezed orange juice (I often sneak in a carrot or two).

I have a Bosch juicer, look for the highest wattage you can find. I don't know much about cold press machines though, sorry. Juicing is a great way to get nutrients and also use up any fruit and veg on its way out too.
